The summer transfer window closes tomorrow and MLS has decided to make a final hard push. On the table--if he says yes, Chicharito will receive 10 million dollars per year. Keeping in mind how young he is he could be making money in the bank for a long time to come. Reportedly if he says yes Man U will not oppose the deal. Chicharito must make his mind up overnight...deal expires tomorrow.... SOURCE: NBC Sports http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/...decide-his-future/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs
Is MLS paying the fee or is a club? If it was a club, wouldn't it be reported as the club is offering 10M? Is MLS going to pay the 10M then give him to a club who didn't feel like paying a fee? Place him where they think he'd fit best which of course questions the integrity of competition? Should be teams contacting players and offering contracts, paying transfer fees, not MLS doing it then helping out whomever is scratching their back at any given moment. That's not true competition.
According to the article: The league will help in acquiring the DP player and the discovery rights list plus the willingness of any individual team willing to take the financial hit determines the rest. Also there may be negotiations between teams for the discovery rights to Chicharito. According to the article update: Chicago Fire has already declared that the deal is too rich for the obligations on their end, but supposedly several other teams in the league are very interested.
Apparently he's already said no.. Es un hecho y confirmado que en estos momentos de su carrera @CH14_ NO tiene interés en jugar en la @MLS pic.twitter.com/ZpS1qiV6jJ— John Sutcliffe (@espnsutcliffe) August 6, 2015
Well you cant blame the league for trying... The night is still young--we'll see what happens. Money is defnitely not everything in a soccer career, but it can be a very intense incentive. That plus being a guaranteed team star. In Europe Chicharito is simply another cog in a wheel--he may be a starter or he may be on the bench--it's never guaranteed. Plus he would be much closer to home playing in the US.
Lol, I more than understand single entity, the legal definition and practice of it. You a rookie here?
Good. I know the marketing value he would bring, but I just can't wrap my head around paying 10 mil for him.
Then what are you doing complaining about that which you can't change and is irrelevant to the topic of this player coming to the league? If you hate MLS because of the single entity, go converse about the leagues you favor that don't have it. You are just jerking around with pointless comments about the single entity undermining competition when the topic is if a star player is coming to the league or not. Not a rookie, you can read, right?
How could MLS offer $10M to Chicharito? He's not worth that - it would be as wasteful as the $5-6M for Jozy. Unless they think Chicharito and dos Santos are going to sell a heck of a lot of MLS jerseys to all the Mexico fans.
Perhaps the current contract for tv rights of mls in Mexico is running out soon. And yes, they would probably sell enough jerseys to bring his salary back to a fair market value.
Yes, you answered your own question. Without a doubt, he would be worth it. And not at all shocked Chicago came out of the gate saying no. I hate Hauptmann.
Watching the mob at the airport for dos Santos, of course that's what they think is going to happen. At that price, though, I'd rather they pay Ronaldo $15-20 mil and come up with creative ways to finance a transfer fee and endorsement deals. And I still find it pretty amazing that MLS didn't go for RVP, who went to Turkey for $5 a year.
If Chicago is out. And Dallas probably isn't in. And Chicago is out. Would Houston do it with Cubo, Barnes, and Bruin on the roster? Does Colorado want him at $10 million? I assume Orlando is still possible. SJ, maybe, if they would want Vela at 6, then they might switch to Cheech for $10. Seattle? Vancouver? Could Portland buy someone down?
The comments section on NBC says Rimando tweeted something about him. RSL? Really? How about LAFC or AUFC and then a year loan?
