Diskin weighs in. Prepare yourself...for #MLSNEXT pic.twitter.com/LO0c3f5ttw— Brent M. Diskin (@BrentDiskin) September 18, 2014 Reminder, he designed the Portland Thorns logo.
I'm going to do this just as a memory exercise. La Liga - soccer ball with a weird color wheel thing going on around it. Some words underneath. Serie A - A pretty cool soccer ball design is all I remember. There is stuff underneath, but I can't remember what. Bundesliga - The red logo with a white soccer playing kicking a ball that is flying off and caught in the right border. Liga MX - Absolutely no clue. Premier League - A blue lion stepping on a red ball with a banner that says "Premier League" underneath it. How'd I do?
It doesn't have to be a blank field to be used to put images in it. That's my main gripe to the logo.. The lower half is just blank. There should really be something there.
Interestingly, you're Liga MX description was exactly what I thought when looking at the new MLS logo. I won't lose sleep over it, but I'm not a fan of the logo. I find it very flat and bland. Nothing about it really "pops", if that makes sense.
That's pretty new I think. I believe the old one had an NBA feel to it. Silhouette of a guy with a ball and the initials underneath? Could be wrong.
Well that makes it a little better I suppose. Still, I'm not going to claim to follow Liga MX in the slightest.
On a somewhat related note, are we going to find out if NYC FC and Orlando will be in FIFA 15? I’m not a fan of the new logo but maybe I’ll get the game. See how it looks in graphics, during gameplay etc. I would DEFINITELY get the game if NYC and Orlando are in it.
You know who they should have hired? Zeus Jones. The firm that rebranded Minnesota United and designed the sick crest and jerseys: http://www.zeusjones.com/blog/2013/giving-our-home-states-soccer-team-a-new-identity/ Incredible work:
I'm not sure on that.. I know NYCFC hasn't released their kit yet, but I'm not sure on Orlando's MLS kit.
It would be nice if teams could do more than change the colors. I'd like to see the teams fill the blank window with something local or iconic. Like Portland could put a rose in there, or DCU could put an image of the US Capitol.
