No. If you've seen them play you wouldn't make that assumption...or I guess if you were going for the massive insult you would.
Point on the road... I think we'll see Rolfe soon that later. His pace once the Chivas defense is a little worn down could be deadly.
How many times do you have to let your facts ruin my jokes? I honestly haven't paid any attention to Big Ten soccer in nearly a decade.
No goals in that half is probably a better thing for us than Chivas... While they don't have a strong final 3rd presence, seems to me they moved the ball a little (not a lot) better than we did. That being said, Segroves is right, Rolfe should be playing. Considering we have no midfielders on the bench (Cabs, Red Card, Barrett and Rolfe) I am looking forward to Rolfe and Barrett both energizing our attack in the second half. BTW, that was one of the most-deserved yellow cards I have seen for simulation at the end of the half on Chivas.
Wish I had something good to say about this one. Rolfe is very conspicuous by his absence. Reiter and Herron don't inspire nearly the same worry. Hate to say it, but if Chivas shoots straighter you're in danger of joining us RSLers in a dubious club. And I wouldn't wish that on anyone who doesn't play in New Jersey full time.
By giving Rolfe and Barrett less than a half to work really doesn't give them much time to get into the flow of the game. I don't understand why we didn't start Rolfe in order to try to get into the net early and then bring Herron in if we want to give him time to get game fit. While we have done a decent job of moving the ball on the ground, we have absolutely no creativity in the midfield with the exception of about three good runs by Mapp and absolutely no chemistry in 45 minutes of play between Herron and Reiter. We could be in trouble here.
Barrett has been very dangerous off the bench, and I don't see Rolfe having too difficult of a time becoming a threat. One of them, preferably Rolfe, in by the 60th minute. The other by the 70-75th unless Reiter or Herron suddenly start playing well.
I know it's painful, but this game is necessary to see what Herron and Reiter have got. They don't see to have anything (like chemistry with the team), and so the normal service should resume at a reasonable time. But we have to give them a shot, because they are the senior forwards on the team.
Is it me or does anyone else worry when the Fire dick around in the back? It always seems to end badly or almost end badly.
I've only seen 12 or so Fire games this year, so I may be remiss in asking if Herron has looked anything but flat this year? Hardly the guy who looked so good at the end of the 2004 season.
Baloney--we have a great opportunity to take three points here and I think we are still trying to get points to make the playoffs. This is not a "friendly" where the results do not matter.
Reiter has at least shown some hustle... Herron seems a stop off of everything. On one specific play Reiter flicked it forward and if Herron had run onto it right away, he had a chance to be 1-on-1 with Guzan. Rolfe now!
It worked! Rolfe on in the 60th... Before I forget, I want to say Beute is impressing me much more today than he did Wednesday. Getting involved in challenges and wanting the ball offensively-maybe we're seeing in him what the coaches have all along.
No, it's not a friendly, but it's a non-conference opponent, and one that has only won one game. We can't go to the playoffs with no idea if Herron and Reiter can do the business. Rolfe in now, so let's see how soon he scores. CAN WE PLEASE KEEP EZRA HENDRICKSON AWAY FROM THE BALL.
As Herron and Rolfe swapped spots, Rongen (color commentary on the DirectKick Chivas broadcast) called them very similar players. Must mean the Herron of late last year and the Rolfe of this year. Ezra looks dangerous. Yellow to Pause, late foul on Martinez. That's been a rough pairing for the Fire all night.
