So, will stinking John Fisher decide that making the quarters was a sign of success, and an indication that he doesn’t need to spend any more money on the team? My guess is yes.
Yeah - given our record during the Fisher reign (three playoff appearances in the 12 seasons) this tournament result should keep him satisfied until 2025...
In the event that there are no more games this season, this will be the first season in which Wondo did not lead the team in goals since 2009. Wow.
I think I have a better chance of being elected Pope than having the MLS season resume this year. Just sayin'.
I assume they couldn’t have made any new money on this tourney, as they were trying to meet enough broadcast requirements so that they wouldn’t have to give back any media money.
They should just keep them in the bubble for another 6 weeks and play 10 more games. Combine that with the 5 already played and you get to almost half a season. Do expanded playoffs for two more weeks and call it a season
The experience of baseball seems to be showing us that pretending things are in any way normal is doomed to failure. The ability of MLS to have this tournament was predicated on essentially sealing the teams and all of their ancillary staff in a 'bubble', with strict rules regarding on- and off-the-field conduct. I'm thinking, given the extreme attitude of entitlement exhibited by elite athletes of all stripes, that will not be sustainable for anything approaching an entire season. Let's contrast this with what the Cal Interscholastic Federation CIF (of which CCS is a component) (https://cifstate.org/mediacenter/re...F_Statement_2020-21_Sports_Calendar_Final.pdf) is doing - they have essentially declared that sports are out for high schools until the December/January timeframe. I am relatively confident that baseball, basketball, and hockey are not going to last through the fall, and I really wonder whether football will even get started.
