Thanks to the 7 points picked up in the first 3 tournament games, the Quakes are currently listed as 6th place in the west, four points out of first place, three points out of second place. However, if we were to be conservative and assume that in Dallas's next 3 games Dallas will earn at least 4 points, then we would drop to 7th place. That would still be above the playoff line, with 5 teams below us. So the tournament has already done us a lot of good.
The Quakes have looked good and made me happy to watch. I am proud of them and I am looking forward to the next game! See what Almeyda has done? Dom ball was neither effective nor inspiring. Almeyda ball is always inspiring and is sometimes effective
Dom did win the Supporters Shield with the Quakes in 2005, and MLS Cup with Houston in 2007, 2008. So, at one time it was effective .Just sayin'!
In our group, Chicago could advance if they win, tie or loss by 1 goal in the last game against Vancouver. They probably wanted to go home early and decided to lose by 2 goals.
I definitely meant Dom Ball as the Quakes played it at the end of Dom's last stay. The MLS was something different back then. The quality is immensely higher now. You just aren't going to Dom Ball LAFC into submission. But you sure could lose a lot of games and also be boring while doing it.
So the full draw is set. The bracket is very unbalanced. The Quakes are in the half of the bracket that has every good team except the Timbers and TFC. LAFC, Columbus, RSL, Loons, Sounders. And Orlando, whose recent results are great. I don't know who I prefer out of the Loons or Crew, but from the other end of our bracket let's hope the Impact somehow come through. Or anyone but LAFC.
The Loons looked anything but unbeatable in the snoozefest nightcap last night. We and LAFC (hate to admit it) are really the only enjoyable teams to watch in this tournament.
Charlie Lyon's life as MLS pool goalkeeper has him swimming in the deep end of the Orlando bubble https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...wimming-in-the-deep-end-of-the-orlando-bubble Interesting read on being a pool goalkeeper in the tournament. It doesn't sound easy.
We'll win our next two games then one of our guys tests positive after they hung out with an NBA player.
And MLS decide to cancel the tournament because of that but the real story is the final will be SJ vs Philly and all the favored teams are eliminated.
Incredible how bad Kansas City looked tonight. Even when we beat them 5-0, they played better than that.
Our CBs are fully capable of giving up those soft quick counterattack goals against the Loons. Hope not but....
Any time a socal team loses, especially one that's hyped as much as LA(ugh)FC is, makes me enjoy life that much more.
At least we won’t have to hear all the breathless speculation from the announcers about Diego Rossi and his next stop... The ESPN guys are all about LA...
