Everyone probably already knows this, but they're gonna be showing MLS on thursday nights now at either 4:30 or 5. Its kinda primetime I guess. Everyone should talk about it at school or work on fridays to get the word around about it. Woohoo, I get the "corniest thread of the year" award!
nah man (or girl) i started a thread on Olsen Twins vs Ben Olsen before the MODS locked it down...I think that might have been the worse (Olsen twins in 2 years by the way, not even close)

I think this is a pretty good deal, really. Any prime time exposure is better than nothing, especially for the next three weeks before we're competing against Friends and the like. Here's hopign the ratings will be decent. *knock, knock.
How is it a bad move? The league obviously couldn't show matches on Saturdays with college football.... Why don't we wait and see how it turns out. It could be a great move. Not everyone watches survivor....especially the 18-36 male demo the league is looking for....
yeah but that demo is mostly part of nfl nation. i'm just glad to see a game thursday though since i'll be at a wedding all day saturday.
Perhaps the NFL nation will be tuning into SF v. NYG and the game will stink...or be a blowout...And they look at that cooler full of beer and check around to see what else is on....
Do any of you MLS ratings cognoscenti out there still have any records or recollection of the ratings for the Thursday night MLS broadcasts on ESPN and espn2 during the league's early seasons (I think 96-99)? I know that a lot's changed since then and it's not exactly a comparable sample, but it would still be interesting to compare ratings for Thursday night MLS games this season to those from 96-99.
How much fun is this? Now I have something to look foward to. If I can survive Wednesday and Thursday, Metros will be a treat.
HOT DAMN I GET TO SEE UNITED TWICE IN A ROW!! I DON'T CARE IF WE ARE #10 AND LOOKING IN AT THE PLAYOFFS (FROM QUITE A DISTANCE, EVEN)!!! I STILL GET TO SEE MY CLUB TWICE IN A ROW WITHOUT HUNTING ALL OVER CREATION ON TV!!! This is a great way to begin autumn, I must say. What great news!
Solid point. I am glad to see MLS on Thursday evening. Looking forward to telling my players to go home and sit in front of ESPN2 and watch some MLS.
It is too bad,not everyone has ESPN2. Still not a bad move, let,s hope we don,t get bumped by some college sport, like the shootout package did to us last saturday.
espn2 is one of the most carried cable channels around. Five years ago that would've been an issue, but it is hard (but not impossible) to find systems without the deuce as part of the basic package.
Thursday Night Soccer ain't exactly a new development folks. It may have been sidelined for a few years but it's been around before (and folks complained about it then)
The games were on the Shootout on DISH Network and DirecTV. Besides, something like 98-99% of the households that have ESPN also have ESPN2 these days.
