Handing Morris a 5-year contract was a sentimental move. With Aubameyang and Tillman, LAFC's depth chart should make them competitive on all fronts. Armchair Analyst: It's been a long month of roster building and preseason maneuvering. Here's where every Western Conference team stands (depth charts included; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not)https://t.co/kgQtVXymAs pic.twitter.com/up5dDhm4K6— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) February 6, 2023
Arriola with the goal today in FCD's 1-0 win over Hammarby. I predict a massive year for Paul in MLS. He's 28 and in his prime. WC squad rejection is going to be absolute fuel for him. FCD doesn't have much depth, but their starting XI looks really strong. It's not a DP deal, as far as I know. Morris is also still a pretty good player, despite USMNT fan commentary. He was 10/5 in terms of xG and xA; and that's not far off his peaks in per minutes. If he can be a bit healthier, I don't really think it is an issue. Or that he'd be anywhere close to being benched.
I would like to see fans of MLS clubs post preseason updates about young flavors here. As broader USMNT fans, we don't have the interest or time to focus on this.
Morris looked about back to his best physically by early May and was doing his normal in MLS.until he lost his supply line. If you go and watch Jordan Morris goals from last season you may be surprised at how many of them were delivered on a plate from the right W/MF in the 7 shirt. He's also a big strong guy so he should be effective even when he's not the fastest man on the field anymore.
If we could only see preseason... Best I could do is repeat what someone heard from someone who supposedly was there lol.
LAFC looks stacked. Every other coach will suck this year by not winning MLS Cup even though LA has a big talent gap. That's the way this works isn't it?
That would even be an upgrade. I can't even be arsed to bother to scour for 2nd hand reports. But if it was consolidated in one place like this, that would be useful. I thought many preseason games were broadcast on club websites or Youtube. I know that was the case in the past.
The preseason games have been quiet. MLS put a bunch of preseason content on AppleTV but it's hype stuff, not analysis. SBNation killed support for all MLS sites, so some died and some are rallying and going independent. But there's just not a ton of preseason buzz. Or at least, I don't know where to find it.
Didn't make it to the match, but from what I hear Jalen Neal has been impressing in pre-season and many are projecting Vanney will lean on him heavily in the upcoming season. Some speculate we'll move to a 3-5-2, which would give Neal lots of opportunities. Not much more detail to add than that; waiting and seeing.

Sources: NYCFC in talks to potentially acquire American No. 10 Richie Ledezma from PSV on loan. Nothing done yet.Ledezma, 22, has one cap with the USMNT, a staple with the USYNT before that but injuries have halted his PSV progress. Has made 22 first team apps with the club. pic.twitter.com/KTpX29dD5x— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) February 10, 2023 Would be nice just to see him get regular playing time.
Agree. And NYCFC has a giant hole at the 10, but he'd also be surrounded by pretty good talent. Ledezma has always been my example of someone who might end up being pretty darn good but also come back to MLS at some point. My hypothetical wasn't this early -- more of once it was clear that perhaps you weren't going to be a starting Top 5 player, do rising salaries in MLS make it more attractive than second tier Europe. But the injuries have been a bear. And being with City group -- if he does develop, there is a quick avenue back.
Ted Ku-DiPietro apparently has 2 goals 2 assists for DC... they are going to be terrible again so hopefully a bunch of young guys get a shot this season. 🧑🍳 @tkudipietro 🧑🍳 pic.twitter.com/mLiBC3m4cm— D.C. United (@dcunited) February 7, 2023
Thanks, he's a player who I have pretty high hopes for as a sleeper, and it looks like DC have finally woken up to this reality.
