I put: 5 - La Liga, EPL 4 - Bundasliga, MLS 3 - Ligue 1, Mexican League Honestly, I think any MLS team can whip any Ligue 1 team any day of the week (with the possible exceptions of last year's expansion squads, although with their off-season acquisitions they could do well now too.) I thought a split-schedule was a good idea too, but I doubt it will happen until the majority of teams are in SSSs. It's just impossible to schedule the matches that way unless you control the venue.
You're kidding, right? Courtesy of Soccer America: I'd trade the skill in MLS for the skill in Italy in a heartbeat. In a league with Shevchenko, Adriano, Toni, Totti, Del Piero, Ibrahimovic, Gilardino, etc., it's good defending.
I know it has been said before, but I think it's time to put major advertisers on the front to raise big money, which would pay for SSS and top foreign players who might still be in their prime.
Agreed it's only a matter of time. ( In all American sports not just sawker)It's hard to turn down a proven revenue stream.
They asked a question pretty close to that: "Do you feel it would be good idea if the MLS season was split with a summer break for international friendlies" Once MLS gets accustomed to taking a summer break for international friendlies, it wouldn't be that big of a jump to take the break for World Cup 2010 instead.
Bah, who cares about ranking the leagues. That is just going to determine which countries they try to pull opponents from. Teams in playoffs = 6! That was the only question that was important (to me). Friendlies are...friendlies. League strengths are league strengths.
