Hi, I’m creating an MLS fan map using data from fans! I use a Google survey and fans online select their favorite team and state/province of residence. It only takes a few seconds to complete. Currently, there are 5000+ responses from fans, but in order to make a more accurate map, more responses would be better. 4,000 responses overall in 2017? Where did you draw respondents from? The Texas result looks dubious to me.

Provinces with less than 3 responses were not given a team. In case of a tie, the closest team was selected.
I'm guessing we have some military personnel who are MLS fans, and originally from Atlanta, stationed at Richardson/Elmendorf.
Dallas has been correctly identified as the team Oklahoma supports. And everyone knows Oklahoma cannot stand anyone or any team from Texas! Thus, FC Dallas, "The Pride of Oklahoma"
Even if Charlotte was a choice, they would get fewer votes because they haven't played. The nearest club depends on where in NC a person is, and these times are from Google Maps. Roanoke Rapids along I-95 in northern NC is 3:00 away from Audi Field and 7:16 away from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The small town of Murphy in southwestern NC is 2:06 away from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 3:40 away from Nissan Stadium, 6:01 away from Nippert Stadium, 8:22 away from Camping World Stadium, and 9:09 away from from Audi Field.
Iowa would be interesting to see broken down further. For example, I am a Fire fan, but my neighbor two doors down is an ardent SKC fan, neitherof which is the state choice. I'm sure there would be some geographical splits by region here.
If you click on the link you can see a spreadsheet with the state breakdowns. Iowa had: Minnesota United FC 24 Sporting Kansas City 9 Chicago Fire FC 7 And a few other teams with 1 or 2. That doesn't tell you where in the state those fans are but it does give the overall numbers.
