We have arranged for a watch party for the MLS Cup. It will be at the SkyBox in the Gateway in Salt Lake. The SkyBox needs an approximate head count so they can make sure we have enough space and they have enough staff. Please reply to slcsupporters@hotmail.com and let us know if you plan to join us Sunday. I will be letting the SkyBox know our numbers Friday evening. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us, so bring your friends and family. But, please let me know about how many you think you will bring. If you don't RSVP or decide later to come... feel free to show up. We need numbers to show them that it is worth their time to turn off football and basketball for us on a regular basis.
Sweet! Thanks for your work, Dysko. I am pretty sure that most of the Silver Tornados (Kearns Rec League Indoor Under 8) have other things to do on Sundays, as do their parents; but some of them might be there. A couple guys from work might be there, too. The 2023 WWC Champions Team Captain will be there. So just like at Blitzz games, I probably won't be watching most of the action. No big loss when you consider it's DCU v Kansas City. (Sorry, McKid)
Call me conservative. Call me a religious fanatic. Call me what you will. But that's my only reason for not going. That whole 10 commandments thing can be interpreted different way by different people, and my interpretation (sadly for this Sunday) is no sports.
No, they are very easy to schedule... but hard to get great attendance. But, I guess you will not be there SoccerPrime?
Of course I WON'T be there. For 2 reasons, one because I don't live there and two because I agree with jules. I never understood why MLS schedules 90% of the regular season, against College Football only to have the MLS Cup final on sundays against NFL games...
ABC has Monday Night Football, but no Sunday pointyball. They either run the MLS Cup Final, or an infomerical. Actually, the Informercial's Nielsen ratings would be higher. Until next year, when the league rigs enough games for the Chivas to be in the final. In 1999, channel 4 ran an infomercial instead of the MLS Cup final. Which was not entirely a bad thing. I think that it's supposed to stop raining down in the valley by Sunday, so the powder up at Brighton should be snorkel-deep. And Snowbird is open, too, I think. Now there's some "religious obligations!"
Doesn't everyone know how it works, you go to church in the morning but then race home to catch the game. Sundays aren't Sundays without a game. (just my opinion) How did the viewing party go? Did we have a good turnout? I would have liked to have been there but I'm not going to drive from Ogden to SLC when I can watch the game curled up in a blanket in front of the heat vent. Did anyone notice the girl from Ogden that was at the game as the Radio Shack Magic Minute contestant? She actually got the minute right for the goal but didn't pick the right player. She would have won 1 million dollars. Lorrie Fair interviewed her and she said she was going to be a Real fan. We need get her as a Loyalists, I say.
It was really fun. At first we had the game on a small TV in the bar, then they switched us over to a medium in the stadium area (but without sound) and then about the 25th minute or so they put the game on the giant central TV and put the pointyball games on the smaller side TVs (oh yeah!) There were, I estimate, about 20-25 soccer watchers there. I saw the magic minute girl but we didn't have sound at that point so we didn't hear that she was from Utah or a Real fan, that's really cool though.
jeez, brighton rules, best resort i have ever been to. utah rules for the most part. except for Real Salt Lake i am agnostic, but i do believe in the snow gods!
I wouldn't say that. And I don't mean to belittle any religions in saying this. I always thought the sunday sabath / no work thing had a practical side to it. It breaks up peoples routines. It forces you to do completely different things for a day from what you've been doing.
Certainly no offense taken here. Everybody is allowed their own religious views and preferences. I can easily make allowances for people within the same religion viewing the same situation differently. I may be conservative, but that doesn't make me close-minded. (No, I didn't think you were implying that!)
