“Columbus Crew vs. LAFC: 10 stats that will decide MLS Cup 2023” (MLSsoccer.com - Tuesday, 12/5/23) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Let's not forget that LA has defensively stifled both Seattle and Houston, neither of them a slouch when it comes to scoring goals. I see this as Columbus's attack vs LA's defense so I'm giving the nod to Columbus as the victor.
Seattle had the worst regular season GF of any playoff team not named the Earthquakes, and the Quakes are kind of in their own category and should barely count . Seattle’s attack is grossly overrated. How many times did we hear about the amazing firepower Seattle had on the bench. In one broadcast they said it might be the greatest MLS bench ever And then Lodeiro and Ruidiaz come in and do nothing of consequence. I think the Houston front 4, at least 3 of the 4, are pretty toothless - Baird, Bassi, and Carrasquilla. Columbus’s attack is better than either though holy crap, Cucho has never met a shot he doesn’t like.
Yeah, the 2023 Quakes shut out Seattle in Seattle, and beat Houston at home, holding the Dynamo to a single goal. So, LAFC's accomplishments were hardly unprecedented, let alone amazing.

“Crépeau the key for LAFC vs. Columbus Crew at 2023 MLS Cup” (ESPN.com - Wednesday, 12/6/23) Maxime Crépeau, right, has returned to his brilliant best just a year since he broke his leg in the 2022 MLS Cup final. Now, he'll be hoping to help LAFC be the first back-to-back champs since the LA Galaxy did it in 2011 and 2012. (Steph Chambers/Getty Images) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I’ll be rooting for Columbus, because, F#$& LA!!! But it’s not likely that I’ll watch. I can find better things to do with my time. Go Quakesfans!!
I didn't watch the game, but apparently the LAFC supporter group "3252" set off an unauthorized flares, and the game had to be delayed for the smoke to clear. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mls-fines-lafc-suspends-supporter-025338040.html

Quakes used to hold a viewing party for MLS Cup. They held parties for the entire World Cup as recently as a year ago. This new you-can-all-just-stream-it-on-your-phone-in-your-mom’s-basement-mentality is counter productive to the growth of the sport in this country and antithetical to the human condition. I am going to go do something else Saturday afternoon.
“Columbus or LAFC? MLS Cup 2023 predictions from the experts” (MLSsoccer.com - Thursday, 12/7/23) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
It’s going to be a very interesting game because it’s strength vs. strength. Columbus likes the ball, throws numbers forward, and doesn’t care about leaving themselves susceptible to the counter. LAFC doesn’t necessarily seek the ball too much and is happy to sit back and counter. It’ll just come down to who finishes their chances. I still like Columbus to win it (both want them to win and think that they will win).
Remember when the halftime musical entertainment was a thing, in attempt to draw in the younger demographic? Well the soccer's alright, but at halftime we have "Jimmy Eat World"! Or "JoJo"!! Good times. I think they've given that up in favor of the analysis in the booth stuff.
