MLS Career Goals from Run of Play

    That would be a horrible idea. MLS then becomes the NBA where players are fouled based on how well they shoot free throws.

    Just as the the best shooter on the basketball team takes technical fouls, the best penalty shooter on a soccer team takes PKs.

    Yeah, because with time running down, it really makes sense for the losing team to foul the other team's worst pk taker in the Penalty Box (on the odd chance that he would even be there)in order to stop the clock and get the ball back. Expecially when you compare the percentage of PK success among all players and how similiar the two leagues (MLS and NBA) are in frequency of scoring.

    Wrong concept. Technicals in the NBA are closer to PKs in MLS. You put your best shooter out there.

    Or let the defending team use a wall of players. ;)

    I agree with you, but still it would be pointless to intentially foul someone as you had suggested, because the percentage of a goal being scored is much higher on a PK (no matter who is taking it) and there isn't an option of coming back down the field and scoring a goal worth a higher number of points as there is in basketball.
