MLS & Browns vs. Chiefs (NCR)

Watching the Browns @ Kansas City on CBS today and the commentators started talking about Lamar Hunt. While showing him watching the game from his loge they mentioned how he was at the stadium to watch his Wizards soccer team win the evening before.

It actually took me aback. Here were commentators for a station that is not affiliated with the Mouse broadcasting group actually talking about the MLS during another sporting event.

Have we finally clawed our way to a new level of media awareness?

Dick Enberg and Dan Dierdorf. I believe it was Enberg who mentioned it.

Dan Dierdorf and Dick Enberg were the announcers.

The lightly hidden soccer lines on the field were a nice touch too.

I think the WC showing did that + the improvement in general play, but we're talking 10+ years before Soccer is taken seriously in the "hinterlands" vs. US football. Lot's of progress in the cities and suburbia though.
