don't take this too seriously. my criteria - age first, poor play second (obviously Fraser is doing well but 39 in 2005!) Washington, Moore Chung, Preki, Pareja, Jones Maisonneuve Fraser Llamosa Howey Meola Bench: Oshionyi (just when he thought the job was his, sits behind Meola yet again), Lagos, Henderson, Ekelund, Kamler, Dayak, Powell not showing their age yet: Onstad, Fraser (DOTY), Armas, Gutierrez (maybe), and maybe Thornton, Valakari. Some of the 73s are playing well but probably on downside. Sanneh has been up and down, not ready to retire IMO. Kreis gets last minute reprieve from my 18 by being RSL's first player. can't really judge Washington so maybe SGR up in place or move Jones up top and start Ekelund (he might be pushed towards retirement) obviously all these players aren't and shouldn't be retiring: GK's last forever and Meola is looking at Europe, Fraser is DOTY, set for at least one more year are Preki, Jones, and Chung. Moore likely to return if healthy (guaranteed contract). No idea about Washington. players set to be 32 during 2005: KC 11 Preki M 1963-06-24 9 CLB 4 Robin Fraser D 1966-12-17 9 SJ 18 Pat Onstad GK 1968-01-13 2 SJ 12 Jeff Agoos D 1968-05-02 9 DAL 8 Oscar Pareja M 1968-08-10 7 KC 1 Tony Meola GK 1969-02-21 9 NE 18 Carlos Llamosa D 1969-06-30 7 LA 13 Cobi Jones M 1970-06-16 9 COL 20 Mark Chung M 1970-06-18 9 CLB 99 Dante Washington F 1970-11-21 8 COL 19 Chris Henderson M 1970-12-11 9 SJ 19 Troy Dayak D 1971-01-21 7 NE 9 Joe-Max Moore F 1971-02-23 6 CLB 20 Tony Sanneh M 1971-06-01 4 CLB 22 Manny Lagos F 1971-06-11 9 NE 12 Steve Howey D 1971-10-26 1 KC 25 Bo Oshoniyi GK 1971-11-03 6 COL 6 Daryl Powell M 1971-11-15 DISC 2 CHV Ezra Hendrickson D 1972-01-16 8 RSL Brian Kamler M 1972-02-12 9 DAL 1 Scott Garlick GK 1972-05-29 8 SJ 6 Ronnie Ekelund M 1972-08-21 4 CHI 14 Chris Armas M 1972-08-27 9 KC 7 Diego Gutierrez M 1972-11-03 8 RSL 9 Jason Kreis F 1972-12-29 9 KC 20 Igor Simutenkov F 1973-04-03 3 DAL 17 Simo Valakari M 1973-04-28 DISC 1 MET 9 Sergio Galvan Rey F 1973-06-09 1 CLB 10 Brian Maisonneuve M 1973-06-28 8 CHI 24 Zach Thornton GK 1973-10-10 8 CHI 15 Jesse Marsch M 1973-11-08 9 MET 23 Eddie Pope D 1973-12-24 9
Try reading it again, this was about players currently under contract in MLS. He hasn't been since early 2003. This is about players that maybe should or will CONSIDER retiring.
I'll just use your list of 32+ years old current players. GK: Bo Oshoniyi D: Robin Fraser, Jeff Agoos, Ezra Hendrickson, Eddie Pope M: Tony Sanneh, Chris Armas, Diego Gutierrez, Simo Valakari F: Dante Washington, Jason Kreis
i don't. but he is impressively older than most everyone left. my list was a mix of compliments and insults
