Apparently golf came back today with a charity match that raised $5 million, so we are now up to 4 televised sports in the USA, with Korean baseball and German soccer also on TV.
The PGA tour is coming back June 11 with no fans. Today’s event was a foursome playing skins. They were carrying their own clubs and wearing shorts, in addition to other modifications. It was an exhibition in every sense of the word.
Yeah, I was wondering if someone was going to start this. On the upside, all MLS teams were on equal footing with the EPL and other world leagues and not just Atlanta
Orlando's attendance is going to suck hard. They are going to have something like 30 games with 0 attendance in July.
Chicago, Philly, Cincinnati, Miami, and NYCFC in the East haven't had a home league game yet. Only Minnesota in the West hasn't played at home.
If they were going to play MLS matches with no fans in attendance they should have held this tournament in Arrowhead Stadium for old time’s sake.
4,850 at Louisville for their grand opening. I believe this now beats Indy and Nascar for biggest post pandemic sporting attendance.
Nascar will set a record that won't be beaten for a while - 30k expected at Bristol for their all star race. Texas Motor Speedway has set a capacity of 60k for the July 19 race, but much fewer than that are actually expected to show up. Talladega had a capacity of 5k a few weeks back, but most didn't come back after a 24 hour weather delay.
505 in attendance for the Monarchs. 4,931 at Indy. 4,850 in Louisville Looks like this season either Indy or Louisville will lead the country in soccer attendance.
Nascar with a race at Texas Motor Speedway, open with half capacity. Should be the biggest crowd for a sporting event since the pandemic started. Masks clearly not required...
