Does anyone know of any good software for mixing? I'm trying to upgrade from my decks to digital but I'm not to sure where to start. Thanks in advance
I got my start with MusicMatch Jukebox Plus ($20) few years ago. It has an easy guide on how to digitize songs from old tapes but it doesn't have features to enhance them (i.e. adding bass, treble, presets etc.). If I knew what I know now I would spend $10-$20 more and get a whole sound card like SoundBlaster Live 24-bit which is great for line-in recording and enhancing. I don't use MMplus anymore but it is a good software to start with. There are some free softwares available but I doubt the recording quality would be that good or they would allow to rip at higher quality than 128 kbps.
Some free softwares worth trying: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/audacity.html http://www.download.com/Freecord/3000-2170_4-10460558.html?tag=lst-0-8 http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php http://www.snapfiles.com/get/soliton.html (to WAV only) http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/Products/ShowProduct.asp?PID=961 (30 day free trial) http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm (30-day free trial) http://www.download.com/JetAudio-Basic/3000-2167_4-10449558.html?tag=lst-0-7 (upto 128 kbps) http://www.download.com/AV-MP3-Player-Morpher-Basic/3000-2140_4-10473684.html?tag=lst-0-2 http://www.download.com/Mp3-My-Mp3-Recorder/3000-2140_4-10396920.html?tag=lst-0-10 You will also need a cable like this or this, depending on your source/sound card.
