MISL History Game of the “Week” Philadelphia Kixx at Milwaukee Wave 12-4-07 Low and behold I have given thee a MISL.2 game. This one is on the Fox Soccer Channel and the great Michael King is on the color commentary. Keith Tozer’s Wave are historic and always a worthy opponent and have a wonderful fan base to make any franchise jealous. The Kixx are in the bottom of the standings but do have Don D’Ambra leading their team and Peter Papas in goal. Once again, we are in Multi-point scoring so goals in play are 2 pointers, 3 behind the arc. Greg Howes is in his scoring prime for the Wave and gives us a Halftime piece. There is great chatter regarding Futsal and the Indoor Game and of course Keith Tozer’s heading up the USA Futsal program. Let’s Dance! Enjoy! TEE
Lovely! Granted they have been around forever, but I have many, many Wave games on VHS (probably have been degrading rapidly, but still...) I do have a VHS-to-DVD converter, but I've been too lazy to ever transfer one... part of the reason is that I would have to watch every game to edit out the adverts. If anyone wants to take on the challenge.... I also have a whole bunch of old WISL games that Downing Bethune put onto VHS if anyone really wants to blast the past.
Heck ya MJames, send a few my way and I will begin working on them. Private message me if you like. I will be glad to edit them down and post them and send them back to you! Truthfully, the large part of this collection is original MISL so games like the one I just posted will be few and far between unless someone wants to throw games my way.
Keep the ads. It makes it a time capsule. I was just watching a Blast game from 1984 and they had an ad for a new Chevette for $3900 and brand new it looked like it belonged in a junkyard. Plus old catchy beer jingles.
I agree keep the ads, I saw those ads also and enjoyed seeing them. Was wondering if Tee, mjames, or anyone has a video of game 3 of the 2002-2003 MISL2 championship. It was the Blast at Wave and the Blast came back to win the game 13-12. The game was not televised in Baltimore and I remember listing to the game on the radio. Never did see the game and can't find it online. It was Baltimore's first championship since 1984. Would really appreciate if someone could post it. Tee, thanks again for posting all these old MISL videos, really enjoyed them and they bring back many great memories!
I’m on board with people saying keep the commercials. I love them, and it’s so easy to skip past them on YouTube anyways. Which era are your tapes? If you have any Milwaukee vs Detroit games, please get those up! And if Joey gets overloaded, I could put them up on YouTube. There are surprisingly little Rockers/Ignition games out there. Only after the popular Neon/Safari went away with the CISL did the Rockers get on statewide FSN Detroit, and the Ignition was only on the Comcast Detroit channel. I might still have one or two Detroit Neon games down in the old teenage man cave in Michigan.
I've got a 1984-85 season game against Canton (recorded off of public TV), I know I have an 87-88 season game against the Memphis Storm (recorded off of public access cable) and the 89-90 season opener against the Memphis Rogues. There's a 91-92 game against the Dayton Dynamo in there, too. Then I skip a few years into the Tozer era, as the NPSL games were on ESPN2 and Wave also began showing games on local TV that I record. But I can't recall any Rockers or Ignition. I need to get off my fat arse and dig the tapes out of the basement. Let me see what I have, and I'm fine with loaning out the tapes.
Good news/bad news. I jotted down all of the games that I have, but I have given a bunch of my better stuff to Van McNeil, so I have to track him down for the rest of my collection. I will send some PMs to Joey, Kenn and FireSting about digitizing some. However as stated above, they have been in the basement and moved around for 20 years or so, I have no idea what the video looks like.
Fantastic stuff....love seeing when guys played before for other teams. Never knew Donatelli played for the Kixx. Would love to see that old promo for Kinger with the song from The Lion King. Keep posting these, I watch them all.
