Here's a good one to start the thread... Footballers on bail over limousine theft http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2134429,00.html Not-so-legendary former Rs midfielder Warren Barton!
For those always looking into a way to fly across the Atlantic to see the Rs... the British Airways off-season sale fares were released this week. Not too shabby, depending on where you fly from... http://www.britishairways.com/travel/offerus112/public/en_us
Thanks. My wife and I are already booked to go for the Watford match in late September, but I'm hoping to go over once more before we get too close to a certain due date.
Michael Mancienne played the second half and Dexter Blackstock was the only unused sub as England's U21 squad drew 1-1 at home with Romania's U21s. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/6956354.stm
Thanks - was trying to get info on that yesterday. And fell asleep last night before the second half of the replay Was great to see Dex in the squad at least. Hopefully he can build on that, keep scoring some goals and stay on Pierce's radar.
Paul Furlong was named League 1 Player of the Month http://www.football-league.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10794~1106183,00.html Well done Furs
Little better fare than the BA special that I posted earlier in the thread. This one could get you to London (from Washington) for about $460 after taxes and fees. From Virgin Atlantic.. http://airfare.travelzoo.com/european-airfare/322488
Dexter Blackstock got on the pitch for the U-21s (albeit in the 90th minute) in their 3-nil win over Serbia last Friday... http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/6984539.stm
The away fixture at Burnley, postponed after the death of Ray Jones, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 11th. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1116166,00.html That's between an away game at Scunthorpe on December 8th and a home game against Wolves on December 15th.
"Slightly" ? OK, then I'll bend your ears. I have a couple of still shrink-wrapped Subbuteo teams, and I'd like to get one of them painted as QPR. Since you're both in the DC area, I'm sure you've met my proposed painter, the very good man writered21. Now, how I need your help is in deciding an all-time team. Clearly, Bowles and Marsh are in. I insist upon Sinclair, since he (and the atmosphere at Loftus Road) are the reason I became a QPR fan, in the early 90's. Ferdinand is another obvious, non-negotiable choice. I'd like your input as to where I go from there? If I wanted to be a knee-jerk patriot, I'd go with Sommer in goal. But you guys know more than I do. And I suppose more contemporary choices would balance things...Blackstock? Please help. (Look at it this way: you've been given the opportunity to spout opinions, WITHOUT the danger of being shouted down...how often does THAT occur on BS? )
Wegerle has to be in there somewhere I need to unearth my Subbuteo set one of these days... my wife will be thrilled!
I think you need to have Sommer and Wegerle in there. Just for the American angle. And Shittu needs to be there for the "is that vulgar?" angle!!!
Oh, Wegerle's a very good call. I can't believe I forgot him...I blame the early hour of my initial post! I also like the idea of adding Shittu. Need to build up that backline. Thanks. Keep 'em coming.
How about Paul Parker next to big Dan in the back? I'd think about Martin Rowlands, Gino Padula, Kevin Gallen and Paul Furlong for my own sentimental reasons as well
Why don't you just put the names of the regular posters on here on the back of the players jerseys?!?! I could be the short, fat player that's bent over with his hands on his knees gasping for breath!!!
Ok, if I can be "3" then. We could then sit back and watch Atouk and Kevin argue over which one of them gets to be #10!!!
Until one of them introduces the argument "ours goes to 11." Then? Duck! Clearly, what we need is a strong-armed manager, or at least one who screams loudly. Are Brian Clough or Gerard Houllier available?
If backline is what you're after then harking back to the glory days of the early 90's brings us the names of both Darren Peacock and Alan McDonald.
First i have to say....HOLY MOLY!!! had i known there was a QPR board on big soccer i would have been long ago!!! My heart is fluttering!! My name is Connie aka naturegirl on the Toronto Fc red patch boys message board and i am a card carrying QPR LSA member. WOW now i am real excited lol I have a travelling Bircham jersey that has been around the world. I would like to add to Ross at St. Pauls chat and he should add Bircham.....cuz he's everywhere, we love you bircham cuz you have blue hair, we love you bircham...sorry getting carried away but most definitely Gallon. You have to have Gallon and Furlong for sure. It is a pleasure to be here and i heard today that Glenn Roeder might be up for the Coachs job at QPR.
Welcome to the board, Connie. If I'm not mistaken, we met briefly before the DCU/TFC game at RFK last weekend (I know I met one QPR fan among the Toronto folks).
Ah was that you? well then we have met. I cant imagine many QPR fans around Dc or Toronto for that matter but are a few of us about. It was a pleasure to meet you. We will be coming back down for the MLS cup. Hopefully by then the hoops will have something good to talk about.
the folks around here are pretty tried and true QPR people (youd have to be to have made it through the last probably 5 years or so), so welcome.
QPR reserves defeated Wycombe today, 1-0, on a goal by Kieron St. Aimie. Good news: Michael Mancienne came through 45 minutes without incident. It looks like he'll be available for Saturday. Bad news: Sampsa Timoska left with a knee injury in the 13th minute. Other players in or around the first-team who saw action: Moore, Bignot, Cole, Cullip, Shimmin, Curtis, and Baidoo. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1144769,00.html
