    you think they'd realize the tram wouldn't provide enough clearance for all the boat traffic up and down the delaware river. effing engineers.

    The developer ran out of money just after the project kicked off.

    actually, i believe a moratorium is in place on riverfront development in philly due to poor planning.

    the DRPA is the 'developer' in this case, and over $8M was allocated to this project. the intent of which was to create a mode of transporting visitors between destinations at the camden and philadelphia waterfronts, with terminals in both cities, and a cable system suspended between two tower structures (see picture posted previously) to be constructed in the delaware river. the tram would be able to transport as many as 3,000 people per hour in eight-person gondolas suspended from the cables at a height of 160 feet above the water.

    Ah, that's right. Nice pull. Now that you said that the bells went off. After they started the project estimates ballooned to over $40 million didn't they?
