In the long tradition of "ditch our crappy keeper for the promising backup" threads, I offer you: Cut Crayton, bench Wells! Milos Kocic now! From Soccer Insider: *United is in contract discussions with rookie goalkeeper Milos Kocic (Loyola College-Baltimore) and "I think we will get something done," Kasper said. Kocic said he had an opportunity to sign last month with Red Star Belgrade -- his boyhood favorite -- but wanted to remain in the States. "I don't see myself as a rookie. I feel like I can play," said the 6-foot-4, 200-pound 23-year-old. "I am going to compete. I don't care who is behind me or who is in front of me. You've got to beat me to be the starting goalkeeper. That is why I chose America before Serbia because there are so many other things besides soccer [in Serbia], and I think here, who is the best is going to play. That is why I am here."
Perkins first year or two wasn't very good - But somewhere under Simpson's coaching, he eliminated his weaknesses and took over GK duties from MLS Cup Champion Rimando - Maybe with a year with Simpson, Kocic can do the same
I just love the kid's attitude: "I don't care who is behind me or who is in front of me. You've got to beat me to be the starting goalkeeper." If this soccer thing doesn't work out, he can come work for me, taking names and kicking ass.
Crayton - shoulder injury and still recovering - CHECK Wells - stinks - CHECK Thorpe - undersized AND inexperienced - CHECK If I were Kocic, I'd be oozing confidence too. It's not like he has Kahn, Buffon, and Schmeichel in front of him.
I have a feeling that Wells can kiss his time at DCU goodbye. We should offload his salary, send him to San Jose for Ronnie O'Brien or something like that. Wait, O'Brien technically is not on the books there...hmm...
O'Brien is a good player, no doubt...yet he's still managed to wear out his welcome at a lot of clubs...
Well, he seems to have already gained at least one spot on the depth chart with Wells "taking some time off"
So, you are saying you are already familiar with the Serbian process of job promotion? Crayton does still have a sore shoulder from last saeson now that you mention it .......
Absolutely! Crayton scares me way more than Wells did! There must be a reason why he was with so many clubs in however many years ( te exact figures escape at this time, but I was thinking it was someting like 14 or 16 clubs in 9 years!) Kocic couldn't possibly be any worse!
He's just so inconsistant. He let in a horrible goal (in his hands!) to Olave, and stops a screamer from Movsisyan. I don't know if Kocic is any better at this point and we've tried Wicks already.......
