The one hope I have with Mike Magee is that he was never a player that relied on his physical skills and athelitism. He was more about being in the right place at the right time and having decent technical skills. So the big question is if he is now 100% healthy and can avoid more injuries and not break-down. If so, and if on reasonable wages, I think he's a major upgrade for our "experienced vet off the bench" position that has been held by the likes of Edson Buddle and Jovan Kirovski in the past...
Came by to see if this thread had re-surfaced. +1 to all involved. I honestly think Magee and Larentowicz may be more useful to you than some of your big name signings. Good pickups.
Glad he is back but I will be very surprised if he is anything but depth. We have too many attackers already but having some serious depth will be amazing.
Yep. Would you prefer having Edson Buddle or Mike Magee coming in late in a game to provide a spark? Magee and Gordon could be a starting tandem on some teams and they are our depth...
Yup, I am fine with Magee as a spot starter and bench option. Don't forget, he's very familiar with Bruce and how he likes to play, and that is why his positioning was so good in the final 2 years of his time with us. I think he's learned to play smart and he'll fit in more quickly even though the personnel has changed a bit. Hopefully his body holds up well. That's the big thing for me. He could bounce back with a couple of healthy years, or he could be done---he probably doesn't even know as he's still rehabbing.
3-1 3 points in the bag who's next? Magee showing he is a true LA Galaxy legend gets us a PK and his goal just oozes legend status. He deserves LD type praise from us when he decides football is just for mere mortals.
EVERY SINGLE GOAL was thanks to Magee, WOW! Hopefully he can keep this up and hopefully this lights a fire under Gio's ass and makes him realize his spot is not guaranteed. I'm hoping Gerrard can get that fire as well and we should be good. Ashley Cole is actually the most impressive really new signing thus far... (magee is the most impressive return )
What happened in the opener is something you would expect to read in this thread. You gotta be kidding me.
Some say he's less than a God but more than a Man. Welcome home, @magee18 pic.twitter.com/v1zlBk0e5i— LA Riot Squad (@LARiotSquad) March 7, 2016
In the pantheon of LA greats Magee’s final ranking is yet to be determined, and blasphemous as it may sound now, he could crack my top 3. Goodness knows Cobi, Dan, Cien, Robin, Kevin may have a greater claim based on skill, consistency & longevity, but memorable moments, trophies? Perhaps it’s my failing memory. Maybe it’s because those names are associated with an era when the Galaxy faltered at the last hurdle rather than smashing through the finish line. It could just be a bias for the present over the past, whatever it is Mike may end up just behind Landon & Robbie on my line-up sheet.
Cien, LD, and Cobi can all be hailed as talismans for the Gs, but there can only be one Highlander. Could this be a new category?
