The problem with the refereeing in this game hasn't really been PKs. It has been the lack of carding the professional fouls. How many times did the left back make only the faintest attempt to play the ball before getting a card. Mexico gets way too much leniency in that regard.
Also What if Mexico is losing and the fans start chanting? Can Mexican fans get a match abandoned they were on the verge of losing?
This. Every break, either a Mexican would foul a Canadian trying to lay off the ball, or a Canadian would plow through a Mexican trying to break. Mexico is not very good. Unfortunately, we have an even more depleted team of not-very-good players, headed by Egg. Maybe we can scrape out another 1-0...
I think we need to pressure our federation to stop sanctioning their money grab friendlies here until this stops for good. I actually think we should stop sanctioning them anyway, but that's another argument.
I actually disliked the first one more, because there was no way Corona was going to get to that ball. The second one was not the sort of call that a ref wants to make. But Kaye got beat on it. And his foul disrupted an opportunity to develop an opportunity at goal.
These idiotic non-punishments have actually helped them in multiple games get late goals. Ridiculous, it's not an offing punishment to give them extra time to find a goal when they're sucking against yet another second or third tier concacaf side, it's a freaking benefit. Normally I'd argue that at this point they should have to have an empty stadium for every single match that is stopped for this horse ----. Otoh, in their infinite wisdom, while Fifa punishes Mexican homophobic chants, their gifting multiple WC's in a row to nations that criminalize being gay. Kind of, I don't know, the height of hypocrisy on a level the IOC would blush at if they weren't busy making sure all their hookers, blow, and cash from Japan was duty free as they forced the olympics on them in the middle of a pandemic.
LOL. Mexico's A- team looks roughly equal to the C+ USMNT. I am starting to think that Mexico was very lucky to keep the Nation's League Final as close as it was.
I think we played scared because it was Mexico. But this is a very beatable Mexico team. The issue is that we don’t have 16 players ready to go. At best we have 14. So we’re at disadvantage there.
Yep. I agree. But A team vs. A team going forward, the USMNT should be a solid favorite against Mexico anywhere but at Azteca Stadium.
Last three games we played them at azteca we won one (2012 friendly) and drew twice (2013 and 2017 wcq). We’ve actually fared worse vs mexico in the usa.
i dont know why yall are complaining about the refs giving mexico time- they would have gotten a pk if that hadnt worked. look at how early that whistle was in added time...
