Next time somebody tells you about the nine game win streak when Andrulis took over, remind them of this:

The Crew was able to finish the season 9-1 under new interim coach Tom Fitzgerald. Joining Fitzgerald as a catalyst for the stretch run was goalkeeper Brad Friedel who helped lead The Crew to an 8-1 record over their final nine games. With their late season surge, The Crew qualified for the team's first Eastern Playoff Conference berth.

And don't forget, kids. Smith isn't just the GM here:

Jim Smith, general manager of the Columbus Crew, has been promoted to the additional title of president of the Major League Soccer team.

Smith signed a three-year extension to his contract as part of the promotion, the team said.

In addition to its improvement at the gate, the team turned around its performance on the field after Smith fired coach Tom Fitzgerald. After starting the season 1-3-2 under Fitzgerald, the team went 12-4-4 under new coach Greg Andrulis and reached the playoffs.

so that means if he gets canned, HSG only has to replace one person at the top instead of two.
