Can’t agree with him being our best player for a stretch of games or with him being a good player at all? I’m not sure the 10 is his right position, he can’t dribble or shoot, two pretty important attributes for a 10. And he doesn’t make up for it with hard work either. He has great delivery and vision though. I’d much rather see him playing Cristante’s spot being the backup for Diawara and Veretout when they are healthy. He’s still pretty young too. There’s a lot of responsibility in an already barely functioning team resting on his shoulders. Like many have said he doesn’t have the character to bear that. Some time on the bench can only do him good.
If Fonseca took him off based on performance then I like it. I had the impression he might be too much of a friend to the players, but this move could show he is setting some authority. Its all good, I've written enough on him and his "nice boy, easy life " mentality. His biggest weakness imo and thats not fixable. You have covered some points here that I agree with regards individual talent he has but its not enough overall without the right mindset and Im happy to call that now. I have said he could prove me wrong at a club like Juve were he's just another player and would get a proper kick up the ass, told to get with the program etc. That wont happen at Roma.
Villar for Dzeko please. He got his one goal; lets get him off before he screws up 5 more clear chances.
Taxi could do a better job for us than cristante. He's played a few very clever passes in tight spots.
