We can only hope he fits in that well. Great seasons, wins (possibly the greatest win in BYU history known as the miracle bowl when Jim McMahon/BYU scored 4 TD's in the 4th quarter - including a Hail Mary in the final seconds)... You don't have to "fit in" to fit in Utah - we love a winner and don't mind the personality. Crap, Jim McMahon even married a local girl while at BYU...
Did anyone else see the interview on KSL's early newscast? Mathis said that RSL was going to be bigger than the Jazz. (I think he was kidding.) But it was still funny.
I was at the news conference and actually just saw the KSL news bite... kinda lame that from the entire speech he gave they zeroed in on the Jazz comment. But I guess I should not complain... at least they reported it. Channels 2 & 4 didn't even mention it! Actually channel 2 had a really stupid bit about the nerve shattering, amazingly exciting sport of ice fishing!
Yeh, I caught all the channels (except Fox which is un-watchable) and 5 was the only one that showed anything. Its a damn shame. Thanks channel 2 for the fishing report. They must have their heads up their butts, my hell! Anyway, Deuce, did you get to meet Mathis? How many people where there?
Yeah Cup... I shook his hand and welcomed him to Salt Lake. He thanked me and said that he really enjoyed the city. Then he slightly turned to take another picture to sign and his sharpie caught DJ Countess on the back of his pristine white shirt... He looked at me and shrugged as if to say Ooops! then he smiled and was off signing more autographs! He seemed really down to earth... I tried my hand at reporting the event over on the loyalist forums... I uploaded some autographed promo shots and some of the really bad shots I got while there. Check them out when you get the chance!
Fox reported it, too. They actually had a couple of teasers about it in previous segments as well. Did a decent job.
Rob Stone turned out to be the visible source. Doesn't make him the only one. RSL FO plays things a little closer to the vest than many others. Team source to me: "We didn't talk about it hopeing not to jinx it. It was all Ellinger. No Ellinger=no Mathis."
