very curious to see how rooney and defoe will do up front. i think if heskey had started, this game would have had better chances of ending in a tie.

Johnson lucky to not get a yellow after those two early fouls. IIRC this ref has a reputation of not being card-happy so will be interesting to see how physical he lets the game get

Goal, Defoe. Bad reaction by GK?

Lol - Milner's crossing had been useless all game until he finds a peach and drops it onto Defoe's right foot

Is it just me or does England look more active and interested today?

Given we'd be hard pressed to match our lack of it in the last game I think that's a safe bet.

I'd say England need a second to really press on, the confidence is so shaky right now that a Slovenian goal is going to knock the stuffing right out of them

England looking better today, and more alert, imo.

capello did well with the changes.

still surprised at the poor keeping from handanovic. dunno what buffon was saying when he said that handanovic was one of the top keepers in Serie A. he really botched this goal as well as donovan's goal in the last one.

maybe his new name should be soft-handanovic? :D

Since I predicted us losing by 1 goal, while Algeria:USA having a draw, for now, the result is as expected.

But both matches are wide open, Slovenians should get their confidence back after talking to the coach now, and I do hope we are capable of an equaliser. Another goal from England would sink us, I'm afraid. Although in qualifications we did have some come-backs too ...

English are far better. They will win 3:0.

Šuler is a joke, Kirm even more. Koren should be imprisioned, Handanovic again with stupid goal near his head.

it's hard to say. im not at all confident in the slovenian coach's abilities after blowing the last game when they should have had that one (even with the bad refereeing).

honestly, and this is where having a 1.95 meter keeper may not be the best thing. he's too tall and the ball could hit his face. i think a shorter keeper in both the bad goals he's allowed would have made the save.

But on the other hand he has some of the best jumps on WC (don't know how this thing is called - when GK jumps to side to save the net)

It's called "reach." Because of his long arms -- he can "reach" very far to get the ball. just doesnt work when they shoot at his face.

Slovenia seems to have given up. The rare attacks they have are without any conviction.
