that match was more entertaining to watch than I thought it would be, but it was pretty far from being a good match. Bad defending by Honduras and unbelievably bad finishing by Spain.

We have to do better against Chile if we want to advance.

This result puts a TON of pressure on Chile, believe it or not. They are in a position that they now have to go into the 3rd game believing that they need to tie Spain, or be out of this tournament. A simple 1 goal loss for them coupled with a 2 goal win by Switzerland over a now eliminated Honduras, sees Chile OUT of this tournament with 6 points from the first 2 games. Ouch.

One sided matches are never much fun :(

So, the Swiss should beat Honduras.
If Spain ties Chile, the spanish are out!

Honduras is the most terrible team so far alongside Korea that just played Portugal. Defense was pure crap and their attack was even worse, Spain defense was still actually exposed but Honduras, man... this team is just weird, they always gave Spain the ball back and their defense always found themselves in retreating situation... and they're not even attacking Spain either. Its amazing their striker actually tried to cut through sea of Spanish defense, horrible

Had Honduras been a little more adventurous and/or less fearful, they could've nicked a goal or perhaps not lost by two.

Also, something none mentions because apparently to most people Spain will surely qualify is that the only team that controls its own destiny is Chile.

The Honduras squad was clearly intimidated by the Big names on the Spanish Squad. if they were a little more risky, they would have had a better match.

Also the Ref. kept giving bad calls going against Martinez,Suazo,Palacios and Welcome. Purely biased and didn't help the defensive minded Honduras.

the First goal was great by Villa. and Navas gets the job done and should start all matches.

Honduras played with heart. Spain out played them, but they never gave up. Respect!

I also found the ref to be a little biased, but nothing that had a huge effect on the match.

I was actually a little disappointed by Navas. What's the point of all the crosses if there is no one to receive them? The one on the ground to Villa was great though, more of that and less of the aimless airballs.

    Jugaron asustados.

Really, they are better than this but not much better. Costa Rica has been playing a lot better in the last months. As I said before, maybe the USA did its confederation some damage by tying the Ticos 2-2 with that last minute Bornstein goal.

Honduras has not recovered from losing Costly. As a team, they were built around him.

No way that such a low Spain perfomance will be enough to beat Chile. For me they are out. And they leave with famous heavy weights of other nations.

    Chile - Spain, draw
    Swiss - Honduras - 3-0

    Great victory, my Spanish friends.

You`ve recovered what everybody was thinking about Spain before the starting of this World cup.

Despite having lost, I also want to say, that you sold very expensive your defeat, my Honduran friends. You`ve showed everybody, that you deserved your position in this world cup, and despite all odds, you can still give everybody another surprise on the last match of this group. But today, against this Spanish performance, I bet no one could come out with a better result than the one you achieved. Not even Switzerland if they played again.

I would had prefered a diferent result, but you must understand that my opininion is not out of desire for my own team. If you play as you played today and we, as we`ve played through this cup, we will have a memorable and extraordinary game next friday. Its going to be a very long wait till then.
    :)

you really think the Swiss will score 3 goals? They are lucky to have scored one so far.

They just need to score 1 goal.

Now, this is the kicker: if Honduras manages to win 1-0 vs. Switzerland, and Chile wins 3-0, Honduras qualifies! LOL.

I know, highly unlikely, but this is football and _anything_ is possible.

Well for one, he did get the penalty. He also drove in a great cross to Xavi. that would have been 4-0 right there. When Spain needs to pass out wide, he is always there. Of course he is one of my favorite players too

entertaining game. could have easily been 4 or 5-0.

i think spain still has much to improve on. xavi needs to play a bit deeper, imo. he's not as effective when playing closer to the goal.

torres looks really rusty. are spain better off with playing villa alone?

No. Spain need that second striker/forward so that Villa can have some room and they both can make runs. Though he didn't score, he was still dangerous which mean that Honduras had to be on him...and focus away from Villa. IMO, had Torres started v. Switzerland, Spain would have won, or at least drawn.

Torres does take some attention from defenders when he is in there. I'd like to see both in the lineup. What I'd also like to see, which won't happen, is to use only one defensive midfielder rather than two that DB likes.

    Honduras: 0-1 Chile, 0-2 Spain
    Goal difference currently at -3.

    Assume your Chile 3-0 Spain...

Honduras would go out with 1-0 over Switzerland.
    Chi 9
    Swi 3 / -1
    Spa 3 / -2 (2:4)
    Hon 3 / -2 (1:3)

Honduras would need to win 2-0 to advance.
