I said that at halftime. It puzzles me how coach doesn't bunker Swiss in ... they are actually playing more offensive now
If you don't think Germany played well you're crazy. Their communication with each other was about the best so far this tournament.
The goalpost seems to agree with you. But there will be days like this. Great teams overcome adversity and this Spanish team is advertised as a great team. Lets see if they can come back in this match, and more importantly, in the tournament.
They have analyzed Spain's patterns using the CERN supercomputer and arrived to the conclusion that this is the right way to play them.
68' 0-1 That long GK punt into a scoring chance is the proverbial bolt of lightning, with occurrence rate maybe 1 in 200 matches. We have all won the lottery for being here 70' 0-1 Spain play #9 Fernando Torres into the box deep left -- onside! He over-settles, gets challenged, blasts way wide left, but #1 Benaglio dives over the endline to parry it anyways. Left corner played back to 19m center, #6 Andrés Iniesta drives a rising rocket -- solid crossbar, reflects back and down hard to 15m, and cleared!
I am actually cheering for germany. But I saw same very accurate passes with many missed oportunities as I am seeing today at Spain and yesterday at Brasil.
Buffon might be out the rest of the Cup. Whoops, thought it was Xavi, not Xabi. I hate it when that happens.
Do what the swiss did; Rub a rabbit's foot on each player before they get into the field, after having them kiss a horseshoe.
I don't think he is. Soccer is called "the beautiful game", and the reason for that is because of things like fluid passing, skillful dribbling, acrobatics, and well placed shots. This game is punishment for people who like that, because the team that is doing all that is not being rewarded. The more games are low scoring, the less the final score represents the team that plays better soccer.
Doesn't matter. It isn't like my side was going to be worth a damn in this WC anyway. Though I hope he heals up nice.
