Free kick from the top of the box finds McKenzie at the back post - his header goes off the head of the defender covering him but called a goal kick.
Finishes 2-2, after plenty of stoppage time. Genk led twice, but (as Bruce might say) they were pegged back twice. Genk are still sitting comfortably at the top of the table. Near the very end, my tracker went from 90+8' back to 90+7', but sadly I felt no younger.
And they draw, after a last minute cross for STVV nearly goes in by Hashioka, but is touched onto the bar. McKenzie had a couple of chances to score on headers in the box, but didn't.
McKenzie starts against OH Leuven. Just conceded a penalty and got a yellow (after a lengthy VAR review) - he kicks out toward the ball while trying to get the ball, and kicks a whole lot of lower leg instead. Attacker lost his balance and missed the chance at a point blank shot. And Leuven's Torsteinsson makes the penalty, making it 1-1 in the 55th minute.
McKenzie deflects a long shot on a breakway out over the end line. It bounces off the signboard to him, and he somehow gives it to the keeper for a goal kick and Genk get away with it. Next play, McKenzie is for some reason up the left wing, takes it to the endline, makes a cutback pass to an open man, who looks to put it on goal, but somehow Paintsil makes a goal line clearance against his own team right to the keeper. Like - the ball was easily going in on it's own, and Paintsil unnecessarily touches it less than one yard from the goal line, putting it parallel to the goal line into the beaten keeper's arms.
Brilliant Tresor free kick in the 87th minute puts Genk ahead 2-1 and might settle this, as well as helping their position at the top of the table.
McKenzie starts for Genk at the usual LCB as they are in a late battle for the title, today against Club Brugge.
GOAL MCKENZIE - heads home a corner to give them a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute - a potentially huge moment if they can hold on.
So Paintsil just scores again. 3-1 again. Excellent physical play barely staying onside and shielding off the defender with strength, then scoring past a stranded Mignolet who barely had time to come off his line.
Scrappy goal by McKenzie, and really bad defending on the Antwerp goals. I don't think MM was at fault on either, or the penalty that the Genk gk saved.
McKenzie scores AGAIN against USG. Free kick from 40 yards out, he is unmarked and runs onto it just eight yards out and puts it on frame, keeper with no chance to react. 1-0 Genk over USG
Boniface equalizes for USG - runs onto a vertical ball, and he does a nice cutback to evade McKenzie's recovery run, then shoots upper corner. OK defense, great offense, 1-1.
McKenzie with the start against Anderlecht. Early red card to Bonsu Baah puts Genk down a man. Yank-adjacent Delaney started for Anderlecht.
Almost a hilarious assist for McKenzie - blindly clears from the box toward Paintsil, who proceeds to make a 50 yard 1 v 3 run before shooting off of the post from 20 yards out.
Huge tackle at the six by McKenzie on Dolberg, deemed clean, but McKenzie down hurt. Limping now, but ref just blows the halftime whistle instead of waiting for him.
Corner kick leads to a header by Ranieri header only partially blocked Vandevoordt. Vandevoordt and McKenzie both go for the goal line clearance, with the desperate keeper taking it off of McKenzie's foot and tapping it in, though it may already have been over the line. 1-0 for the men in purple.
Genk equalize. Free kick from the right sideline. McKenzie wins the header and knocks it down into traffic. A couple of deflections / failed clearances later, and the ball falls to Zeqiri to finish against a helpless keeper from four yards out. 1-1.
Nice anticipation and steal by McKenzie that winds up with him dribbling at the defense 30 yards from goal ... and then he backs off.
