-------Giggs------v.Nistlerooy---------- Fortune---Keane----Djemba-----Fletcher Neville----O'Shea----Ferdinand----Neville ---------------Howard----------------- Giggs can move back into a midfield role as necessary and Fortune can push into the back.
According to this article http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=282349&cc=5901 Fergie may give Ronaldo a run out. If so I humbly suggest this: -------------------v.Nistlerooy---------- -------------------Ronaldo----------------- ----Giggs---Keane----Fortune-----Fletcher------- ----O'Shea----Silvestre----Ferdinand----Neville ---------------Howard----------------- In the same artible it says that Silvestre has been reported fit. I don't see the point of putting O'Shea in the fullback position because he has not shown to be at his best there. Given his dip in form I would say he should stick to one position.
You might also put Forlan into Fletchers place, A la -------------------v.Nistlerooy---------- -------------------Ronaldo----------------- ----Giggs---Keane----Fortune-----Forlan------- ----O'Shea----Silvestre----Ferdinand----Neville ---------------Howard-----------------
Forlan will strike. He has not sufficiently linked up with anyone and has no chemistry with the rest of the team, to put him in an already defunct midfield would be asking for trouble. Ronaldo while he may be ready for the role of withdrawn striker, needs the support of Keane. If we play 2 strikers then Keane will have to stay back and anchor the midfield and he may not be up to this by himself for 90 mins at current fitness. So likely we will have Keane and Djemba Djemba partnering in the midfield which makes us strong defensively and adequate attacking wise. Ronaldo should patrol the right flank as usual. Silvestre probably wont play and if he does Fortune will play the Left Back position. I love the idea of Ronaldo as withdrawn striker, but i dont think he is ready for it this season, on a full time basis. However, when Scholes comes back from injury we could see Scholes, Keane and Ronaldo all in the middle of the park with Giggs and Ole Gunnar/Fletcher on the flanks and Ruud up top. For games where we need to defensive we could play Keane, Scholes, Dj Dj. I believe if Scholes plays behind him or along side him, Ronaldo has what it takes to play withdrawn striker, but im not completely in support of him playing the AMC role just yet. (AMC being top of diamond in midfield and withdrawn being link between Ruud and 4 other midfielders with Scholes slightly behind.)
Match Tracker has this as the lineup: Tim Howard Gary Neville Rio Ferdinand Mikael Silvestre Quinton Fortune Cristiano Ronaldo Roy Keane Phil Neville Ryan Giggs Diego Forlan Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Thanks big... I forgot, Phil scored the winner in Ibrox didn't he? He will be the midfield anchor, but I'm suprised Dj did not get a run, although maybe he will make a substitute appearance, or even better, maybe Kleberson will...
All together now: Diego... whoa-ohh-ohh Diego... whoa-ohh-ohh He came from Uruguay He made the Rangers cry Diego... whoa-ohh-ohh Diego... whoa-ohh-ohh
