You won't be kinder than us. Darmian couldn't have been more inviting down the left flank in our last Premier League match, if he'd donned a doorman's outfit and offered to take coats. At this point, I think a better defensive strategy might just be to cross into our own box on the opposition's behalf. At least then we could guarantee the delivery would be shite.
The bottom line is that United have to start cutting into Tottenham's 5pt lead now. Time and games go by quicker than we think and with the pack of teams behind us, there's simply little to no room for error at this point. With games vs Chelsea, Arsenal with Sunderland in the middle, February could well be decisive in our pursuit of a top 4 finish.
Morgan: United fans deserve the best Morgan Schneiderlin insists Manchester United are determined to bounce back to victory in the Barclays Premier League on Tuesday because the club's supporters "deserve the best". Louis van Gaal’s men were beaten by Southampton in the last top-flight match at Old Trafford and that result was understandably disappointing for the fans. Schneiderlin played in that match against his former club and the French midfielder admits he also found it hard to take. United recorded a confident 3-1 win over Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup on Friday, but the 26-year-old admits his team-mates must also pick up three points in the Premier League against Stoke City. During an exclusive interview with the matchday programme, United Review, Schneiderlin is asked how the players felt after the recent Southampton defeat and about the importance of dismantling the Potters. “Our first feeling was disappointment after our performance and losing the game,” the summer signing says. “It was hard to take and we understand the frustration of everyone – we feel it as well. “We want to bounce back and win now, though. We’ve had a bit of time to reflect on that last league game and now it’s up to us to improve. We want to win in front of our fans because they deserve the best and they are used to the best. We want to give them that.” United are currently fifth in the Premier League and five points behind Tottenham Hotspur after 23 matches played. Schneiderlin knows the Reds must now embark on a winning run in order to build momentum. “Every game is a big game for this football club, especially in our position now,” he explains. “We need to look at each game as a cup final, and to win every one until the end of the season. “We can see that the gap is getting a bit bigger in the table but it [the title] is not impossible. For the second part of the season we want to improve our game and win as many matches as we can to be a contender for the title and be in the Champions League, because that’s very important to this club.” Schneiderlin also discusses his first six months at United and analyses his own form thus far in a wide-ranging interview, while the midfielder praises Wayne Rooney in light of the captain scoring six goals in six matches in 2016, which he feels has emphasised the striker’s quality up front.
I haven't. I said he should have been sacked. One more dire loss, falling further behind fourth...and rumblings of Man City pushing further away with Guardiola....I think there's a chance.
It would be poor business to sack Van Gal just because the City signed Pep. We are not and have never been a reactionary club and shouldn't start now. With Carrick back and Fellaini (hopefully) to the bench we should win.
Does this shit really need to be posted anymore? After every loss, someone is quoted saying that the fans deserve better or we must win for the fans, or we let the fans down. It's just fluff and doesn't mean anything.
If getting dumped out of the CL by Wolfsburg, followed by losing 3 more on the trot to the likes of Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke 5 weeks ago didn't get him sacked, then it's not going to happen here. The soonest it will happen will be after the West Ham on April 23 when a 0-0 draw will finally put us out of contention mathematically for 4th place, and by that time we'll be dumped out of the EL and FA Cups.
The same argument can be made about Van Gaal being sacked every week. We all know deep down that Woodward will not pull the trigger until he has absolutely no choice. Until then, for better or worse, Van Gaal will go on...
Seems like we caught a lucky break with Darmian: expected him to be out longer but it appears he's fit and in the squad for today's game. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...itness-boost-manchester-united-louis-10825510
Given his form lately, having him back in the 11 might not be a great thing. He needs to get back to that early season form when he was a killer.
Agreed. Don't know exactly how fit he is but it's a good thing that he's not hurt as bad as originally thought. He's one of the guys who needs to raise the level of his game some more though...
Yes, amazing he's able to play; I thought for sure he had several broken ribs after seeing that collision.
