BBC Radio 5 Live is airing the match worldwide, according to their website

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/sport/commentaries.shtml

But it'll be worth getting off work early and the $10 cover at the pub to see the ManU babes with tears in their beers. Revenge, Part I.

For what its worth (what with all the talk of the youth movement in the Carling Cup), I thought I'd add the ages of the roster for tomorrow. I'd do ManUre if i had time.

    Manuel Almunia (27)
    Chris Wright (18)
    Robin van Persie (21)
    Mathieu Flamini (20)
    Philippe Senderos (19)
    Jermaine Pennant (21)
Gael Clichy (20--birthdate actually not listed on his official bio)
Justin Hoyte (20--birthdate actually not listed on his official bio)
    Patrick Cregg (18)
    Johan Djourou (17)
    Sebastian Larsson (19)
    Arturo Lupoli (17)
    Quincy (18)
    Frankie Simek (20)
    Danny Karbassiyoon (20)
    Ryan Smith (18)

I was talking to a QPR fan a few days ago and he was saying that Simek really stood out on defense during his time there.

Quite possibly five, if Simek gets in. I actually didnt notice this until now, though i suppose it was ovbious. Imagine if Kenny Cooper wasn't on loan and possibly got into this game. Six american on the field for an Arsenal-United game? Are you f---ing kidding me?

Rossi plays for Italy, so calling him a Yank's a bit much.
Also, it should be noted that most of the Yanks play for United. Who haven't actually graduated a youth player to a consistent starter since..........that's right, David Beckham. (Yes, it really has been that long.)

True true. Though until Rossi actually gets capped by the sr. team and is ineligble (I apologize if this has already happened and I dont know about it), i hold out a ray of naive hope. discounting rossi, you're second assertion actually doesnt make sense. It would leave United with Spector and Howard (only Spector is "youth", and Cooper would be if he were there), while Arsenal would have Simek and Karbassiyoon. True about United's youth problem.

IF we're going to get technical, I say "play for United", not necessarily in this game. ;)

Fair enough. I suppose this isn't an appropriate place to start a conversation on the youth academies, but I'd be interested to see the regulars for the Ars, ManU, Chelsea and Liverpool side-by-side, and how many came from their youths/reserves

Actually I think this is the perfect place, I'm sure nicephoras would be willing to enlighten us.

Well, over the past 5 years, which youth academy has produced more starters for their club? Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and ManUtd?
From what I see, its one for each Chelsea and Arsenal, none for ManUtd, and 2 for Liverpool?

If someone really has some time, they could look into Ajax and PSV too. I suppose those tallies seem correct.

I'll take a stab at who nicephoras is talking about:
    Arsenal - Ashley Cole
    Chelsea - John Terry
Liverpool - Steven Gerrard & Jamie Carragher (Owen would fall outside of the five year bracket)

Gael Clichy is 19 years old. He was the youngest ever Premier League Winner at 18 years old. So he will be 19 years until next June I think.
I'm pretty sure Hoyte is 19 years old too as he was born in 1985.

    A pre-game thread 3 pages in and no-ones had a go at a starting line-up? I'll have a go, just for laughs:

    Almunia
    Hoyte-Simek-Senderos-Clichy
    Pennant-Flamini-Larsson-Quincy
    Lupoli-Van Persie

    Should be fun :)

Anyone going to be able to do a PBP for those of us stuck at work and whose servers do not allow them to access their Arsenal Plus? Thanks!

Our company blocked all access to internet radio so I can't follow the matches like I used to! :( If someone can do PBP that would be great!

Good to see Simek back at Arsenal where he belongs. I'll try to catch up with he and Danny after the game.
