Header, right foot, left arm. That's a perfect hat-trick in Argentina.— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) February 3, 2019
This has been a wretched performance: haven’t created anything of note from open play, and been carved open regularly.
Same old shit Didnt bat an eye lid when we condeeded within 1 minute Our defence and midfield vs transitions is awful
Disgraceful debut from Barca's Denis Suarez . He came on as a second half sub but after losing possession about three times in two minutes he showed no desire to press the ball or even try and get the ball back . He was jogging around when all his teammates were sweating blood . Don't see him starting for quite a while after this showing
Have no clue what emery was thinking with this line up... congested with zero creativity and pace Coupled with a shaky defense
Amazing how playing so many muscular goons makes no improvement in getting tonked. Indeed that is what every lower table side does.
Total muppet. Mavropanos getting minutes today shows emery’s hand I think. In many ways this game was a free hit. Zero expectations and we pretty much lived up to them. We threatened at times, more so than I felt last season but their quality really is without equal when they show up.
Emery set the team up to defend, i.e., looking for a tie, but the defense isn't anywhere near good enough to hold City for 90 minutes. The result of the defensive setup was a grand total of 4 shots on the day. The don't win very many games when you manage just 4 shots. The real quality in the Arsenal team is in its offensive players. Emery has to find a system that uses those players for Arsenal to have any real hope of making the top four. Setting the team up defensively essentially guaranteed City's victory. They probably still lose (possibly by a bigger margin) if he had set them up offensively, but they would have had a punchers chance, and at least would have gone down fighting.
Ya, we just don't have the horses. Of the Arsenal starting 11 today, who could break into that Man City lineup? Leno? Lacazette? I think nobody. So then you are drifting to not having any shot of being a top 4 team. After 25 games, we are 6. Wolverhampton are 7. If Stan Kroenke won't let loose of some money, we will be wrestling to make Europa. Forget Champions League, or a title.
I wouldn’t be too hard on Suarez. He’s barely played this year and was thrown into an unfamiliar team in a tough spot. Emery, on the other hand...
Yeah it was terrible, but Emery is the guy who a) wants Suarez more than Özil and b) thought it was a good idea to play him in these circumstances.
