    Make your best Portuguese lineup without regular Seleccão players and with subs. The following players are unavailable:

    GK Ricardo, Quim
    RB P.Ferreira, Alex, Miguel
    CB Carvalho, J. Andrade, Meira
    LB N.Valente, M.Caneira
    DM Costinha, Petit
    CM Maniche, Tiago, Deco
    W Figo, Ronaldo, Simão, Boa Morte
    S Pauleta, Postiga, Nuno Gomes

    I've included Miguel, Tiago and Nuno Gomes as regulars because they have played a reasonable number of games in the last year.

    Retired players like Rui Costa and Jorge Costa are also not available. No Makukula either, he's Congolese now.

    All the others are available -U21s, players who were capped ages ago, never selected etc.

    The guys I bolded are sh!t. Hell, I ain't that good...and Scolari would prolly consider me over these bums. Some of them u mentioned are not bad though - Carlos Martins, Bruno Alves, Ivanildo, Raul Meireles, Jorge Baptistsa, Danny...even Couto, Abel Xavier, Pedro Emanuel, Sa Pinto, Vidigal still got game.

    All i gotta say is thank god for Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrade, and Carvalho, and Deco for nationalizing to Portuguese...cause our team would be average or worse without those boys.

    I named as many as I could think of..good or bad ;)

    I eliminated 22 players and the retirees from the choices...so these would be the selections for the 3rd team. Naturally, these teams would be much weaker. I think we can make a good defence pairing and a decent midfield without the regulars but that's about it.

    We would get bitch slapped by any really good team with any combination of these players :eek:

    Moreira; Bosingwa, Beto, Ricardo Costa and J. Ribeiro; Joao Alves, Custodio and Moutinho; Quaresma, Almeida and Viana.

    Bench:

    Bruno Vale, Ricardo Rocha, Jose Castro, Manuel Fernandes, Duda, Sa Pinto and Hugo Almeida.

    I wonder how good this Duda is from Malaga.
    I know he is 25 years old and a midfielder, but just how good is he.
    Malaga finished respectably and he was a regular starter - playing around 3000 minutes the last two seasons. He also scored 3 goals two seasons ago, and 4 goals last season. Very respectable.

    If Portugal beats Russia on Wednesday, our last two qualifiers would be meaningless and we could bring this guy up for a look. How can we start a campaign to get this Duda a look-see.

    where the heck is VAZ TE guys? Aren't you always asking for him to be included in the friendlies? I would use him and Hugo Almeida as my forwards. I sort of agree w/ the basis of Baia, Bosingwa, R. Costa, R. Rocha and Jorge Ribeiro or even Miguelito on the left.

    Alright guys....please dont ridecule me for this...

    ~~~~Vaz Te~~~~~~~Almeida~~~~
    Conceicao~~~~~~~~~~~~Quaresma
    ~~~Moutinho~~~~~M.Fernandes~~~
    Beto~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bosingwa
    ~~~~R.Costa~~~~~~~~Rocha~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~~~V. Baia~~~~~~~~~~

    There it is...With Manuel Fernandes and Moutinho controlling the midfeild(i really think they could do it).

    Quaresma is the slower fatter version of Ronaldo...doing some damage. Conceicao, i always loved his game. He was consistent but he also loved to showcase some Pedalas every once in a while.

    I think VAz Te and Almeida would light it up...

    and Victor Baia would always have to have his A++ game on!

    P.S: My starting 11 has a huge whole in the middle....Ronaldinho would run through it like there was no tomorrow.

    So like a 4-4-2? Not bad! I don't think this or any of our NT lineups would ever encounter Brazil in a tournament, or Ronaldinho for that matter. Maybe during a friendly. But yea, a player like Ronaldinho would part thru that midfield like it was a drunk pig-tailed virgin at a fratparty.

    Really you dont think Brasil and Portugal will meet...i think its only a matter of time. Considering Brasil is always going to be on the top end of competitions and Portugal seems to be gettting better with every game...

    Hell, i wouldn't be surprised if they met at this upcoming World Cup.

    If we meet in the group stages is better, for once then if we both go through we wouldn't see eachother until the Final, the other is that Brazil gets stronger as the competitions advances, so we would have a better chance of beating them in the group stages.

    i hear you...but i highly doubt that Brasil and Portugal would be draw into the same group. I mean, we are both top 10 ranked teams.... And i expect portugal to jump 1 or 2 spots by the time the world cup comes around.
