Wow... a changing of the guard for sure... I took a look at the roster and recognize few of the names I once affiliated with Dutch football.

On the other hand, one less-than-stellar season does not mean your contract should be terminated and your fans should burn all their Makaay jerseys.

Agreed, however I just dont think that unconditional support is to be expected when you underperform either. Contracts are there, however pointing fingers and asking for a better performance are a fan's right and should not be frowned upon when they do that.

    I say "good."

After all, he's THIRD in the league in goals scored, four behind leader Klose.

Pointing fingers and asking for better performances? That's fine. But there is a line between doing that and wanting a player to leave permanently, as several people have expressed.

Look out for the Back-to Back hat tricks (Ballack had just better stop hogging the goals and be a true OM)

Makaay has had a bad year and has scored 16 goals thats not bad he has done better then several players selected on the 35 man Roster for Holland.
Its a little extreme to say he should be sold

just wondering who here wants him sold??? everyone keeps saying that some ppl here want him sold so i wonder who they are? I dont want to argue i would just like to know who some of the posters are referring to.

Personally Roy is our best striker, he is our most productive striker. It would be foolish to get rid of him when we can add a better striker or two to our front line to have an even better attack. I think Roy can only help us, he can't hurt us, he is one of the better ones in all of europe. just look at Milan with Gila and Shev (and Inzaghi is definately not bad himself). So if we could pair Roy with equal or more talent we should just be able to wreak the benefits of having him, even if his numbers sort of go down.

BMike there was quite a coup here with people insisting on cutting of the Kings' head. Just before and after he was benched, all the talk was about get rid of him, hes to old, hes not world class,........ blah blah blah.

Although i havent seen the peruvians since JPG was shown his rightfull place on the bench.

    Makaay is a striker
    Striker's have slumps
A slump exists for an undetermined amount of time
2006 simply seems to be that time for Roy
And it has cost him... (Dutch team, further years on contract extension)

Roy will regain his form. No doubt.

Guys, wrap these up shall we and back to business for our unfinished mission:

    THE DOUBLE!

If we can do it, we are the only top team (correct me if you should) that can win a double in the top 5 leagues of Europe this season!:D (edit: if Barca fails in the CL or otherwise they are better.)
