New club, new thread. Here is the old Luis Robles thread from his time at Kaiserslautern: Luis Robles at Kaiserslautern 2009-2010
Robles had to wait on the bench so far, maybe it's getting better soon. Crazy game tonight between Cottbus and Karlsruhe. Cottbus scored early, and lead 2-0 after 16 minutes. Karlsruhe came back, and turned it into 2-5 after 55 minutes. Coming from 2-0 to 2-5 is something special, but it was even more remarkable; Cottbus didn't give up, came back, and made it 5-5 in the end! Robles' competitor Nicht was at fault for at least two of Cottbus' late goals. The average starter is making mistakes; Robles time could come in the next weeks.
Karlsruher coughed up four goals at Hertha Berlin last night. They've now conceded 14 goals in 5 games. I don't know how much of the blame falls on Nicht, but it's certainly better news for Robles than five clean sheets.
The club is in total chaos behind the scenes. The directors faked some financial documents, had to leave, and KSC has to find some million Euros within the next weeks to get a license for next season. Let me just remember you that they would already have sacked the coach before the season, if they had had the money to pay him off. It was a dubious decision to sign a keeper of Robles' caliber to put him on the bench for a club like that; especially since the coach openly said that he had preferred a striker, if there was any money.
Today's game against FSV Frankfurt: Robles spielt nicht, sondern Nicht and Karlsruhe loses 2-0 http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...match_karlsruher-sc-6_fsv-frankfurt-1295.html
Karlsruher with Nicht in goal have given up 13 goals in 3 games on the road and only 3 in their 3 home games. Perhaps they need to rotate - Robles on the road and Nicht at home.
Apparently they took your advice! The official pre-game lineup on kicker.de has Robles starting between the sticks and Nicht on the bench. So barring an injury in the next 10-15 minutes, Luis is the man at KSC from today on.
I made a gameday thread to mark this joyous occassion: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1555618
Luis was the starting goalkeeper in a test match against Dinamo Bucharest. Karlsruhe* won 1-0. http://www.ksc.de/aktuelles/anzeigen/news/ksc-besiegt-bukarest-10/6.html *The name of the city is Karlsruhe so no "r" when written alone. The "r" at the end only comes into play when Karlsruhe acts an adjective describing "Sport Club."
According to Kicker, Robles to start on Saturday against Bochum. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ielvorschau_karlsruher-sc-6_vfl-bochum-8.html In related news, Robles was voted by the fans as man-of-the-match in the game against Ingolstadt. Almost 5000 people voted and he received 42.7% of the votes. http://www.ksc.de/aktuelles/anzeigen/news/robles-macht-das-rennen/6.html
Robles started for Karlsruhe against Bochum, but their troubles continues as they lost 0-2. One of the goalscorers was Jon Tae-Se, tha Japanese-Korean guy from the World Cup. If I remember rightly, Luis himself is half-Korean.
In the match report, it says Luis was left out to dry byMatthias Zimmermann on the first goal. The second goal came when a defender lost his man on a free kick. The last paragraph talks about how well Luis played keeping the score at 2-0 despite his team's woes. http://www.ksc.de/profis/spieltagetabelle/spielberichte-20102011/8-spieltag-ksc-vfl-bochum.html
Robles got a 2.5 from Kicker for his efforts. The rest of the team got grades ranging from 4.5 to 5.5. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...pielanalyse_karlsruher-sc-6_vfl-bochum-8.html
Robles got some press in kicker today. I assume it also in the print edition. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/..._Die-getruebte-Freude-des-Siegers-Robles.html (my translation) The Subdued Joy of the “Victor,” Robles One cannot make the claim that KSC-keeper Luis Robles does not know what he wants. In order to get regular playing time in goal, the US-American turned down last summer a good offer from Kaiserslautern, who wanted to extend his contract. “It is important to me that I play. At Kaiserslautern I would have been more than likely the #2 and would not have had any chance with the National Team,” says the 26 year-old, who had to be patient with KSC at first as far as the starting XI was concerned. However, competitor Kristian Nicht made one mistake too many – and Robles got his chance two rounds ago against Ingolstadt. And he impressed, as well as more recently against Bochum. To summarize: the man with a degree in Finance took advantage of his chance. “I am satisfied with my play,” says the US-Boy while recognizing KSC’s precarious position. “My personal position is not important. What’s important is that we win against MSV Duisburg.” - Peter Putzing
Here is the picture that was above the article at kicker online. and the game against Duisburg this weekend pits him against Yelldell.
