Summer schedule for Kaiserslautern has been released:

Lots of rumors on who the new coach will be.

Good news for Luis. Are there any rumors of him moving or any shake-up in the GK situation at 'Slautern?

Thanks for starting this, Zak. I've moved your post about the Confed Cup in because it's topical.

I'm soooo happy for Luis. He has earned this. I hope he postponed that honeymoon! He may gets loads of wedding gifts this weekend but this call-up has to be the best gift of all. Luis has had an amazing 8-9 months and things are certainly on the rise for him. He won't get a game, I'm sure, but just the exposure and experience will serve him well.

Word is Sippel is really unhappy. That says more than anything else would.

Luis Robles named to the preliminary Gold Cup roster:

    Gold Cup Roster

I am torn on this, and it may be better for Robles to be left off when the roster is trimmed. It would be good for his national team ambitions and I would guess he would get one at the Gold Cup. However, training camp for Kaiserslautern just began and the season starts in early August. Robles needs to be in camp competing for the goalkeeper spot with Sippel. Kaiserslautern have a new coach and if he misses all of training camp, my guess is he starts the season as number two.

I never figured out, was the last thread called "Luis Robles at Kaiserslautern II" or "Luis Robles at Kaiserslautern II"?

Zak, this roster is nowhere near the final roster. we know Santino Quaranta from DC United will be called up, and his name is not listed.

So we'll have to wait and see about Robles making the Gold Cup roster.

Hopefully if Spain relegates us to the 3rd place game, then Robles gets the start on Sunday.

And then skips the Gold Cup.

I know, that is why I called it the preliminary roster.

Another reason why I think Robles will be in training camp next week. The DFB cup opening round is Aug 1 and 2. Sippel still needs to serve the second game of his red card suspension from the Quarterfinal loss two years ago. Robles was injured for last years opening round loss and Trapp played.

I really hope he made an impression on Bradley and is invited to future WCQ's/Camps.

Guess we'll see Guzan, Hanneman and Perkins for the Gold Cup.

I am guessing he is the number one. I fear him being on the Gold Cup roster is a mistake. He may lose his slot to Sippel.

Hasn't there been rumors of Sipple expressing his unhappiness and call for a transfer? If true that could favor Luis. It should be an interesting development nonetheless.

Heard it from a friend of a NT player that Luis has been doing extremely well in NT training for Conf.Cup and is in strong running for #1 in Gold Cup.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. The guy's on the up and up. I think the idea of bringing him to South Africa was to get him acclimated with Bradley and his staff and players with the view of giving him a run out in the Gold Cup. I'm excited for Luis and I know he will not disappoint.

Tobias Sippel really really wants his job back:

    Sippel Article

The article says that Robles will be back in two weeks. I thought he may come back early. I hope it was not a mistake for his club career to stay at the Gold Cup. Kaiserslautern has a new coach and he is missing valuable training time with the team.

Sippel still has one game left on a red card suspension in the DFB Cup, so Robles will get the first start.

Robles should get the start tonight against the harder opponent, Honduras, in the US's group in the Gold Cup.
