Higuita changed the way people think/thought about goalkeepers. Despite his awful mistake in front of Roger Milla in 90, he's still a legend.

    My ten:

    1) Pibe
    2) Tino Asprilla
    3) Rincon
    4) Willington Ortiz
    5) Leonel Alvarez
    6) Higuita
    7) JPA
    8) Oscar Cordoba
    9) Iguaran

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QzY1GgQgiM

Angel,Yepes, OScar Cordoba, Ivan Cordoba did more in europe than any other player and opened many doors for Colombia not only that but they helped erase that ugly image of colombia left by alot of ur favorites Asprilla and Higuita.

But if u want to be realistic the best Colombian team and the only won to ever win anything was Maturana's Ivan/Oscar Cordoba lead 2001 Copa Amreica team not the team everyone masturbates to Maturanas 1994 team who didnt do anything because half the team had no discipline they might have had the skill but discipline they did not have nor modesty.

1.Ivan Cordoba- he has been a starter at inter since 99, his time in the NT is over but he did win us a title, opened doors in europe and does alot for the Colombian community(Colombia te quiero VEr!)
2.Oscar Cordoba- All he won for Boca, went unbeaten in 2001, was a great goalie and dont understand why Calero took his spot if thye are just as old as each other
3.Pibe - put Colombia on the map but because of him we have not done anything in 10 years we keep wanting to play his style but we dont have a Pibe, one of the main reasons we have done badly since his retirement. Lazy and wants to be the NT coach but doesnt want to learn how to be one
4.Leonel Alvarez - great player, and tring to learn how to be a coach so he can be on the NT soon
    5.Mondragon
    6.Mario Yepes
    7.Juan Pablo Angel
    8.Albeiro Usuriaga
    9.Adolfo Valencia
    10.Willington Ortiz

but yea to everyone who puts Asprilla the guy who could have been the best striker in the world but decided to just be a drunk and pot head good choice..... what he do for us but leave an ugly image around the world

how about Rincon... isnt he in jail for washing drug money? Higuita?? In jail for drugs, got kicked off teams because of drugs??? Sure these guys were amazing but they made colombia look like shit, and it took IRC, Yepes, Angel to show people that not all Colombians r like this and the main reason we are getting exported.

Sure and Edizon Perea and Hugo Rodallega I heard are nice guys as well, so? Does that mean they did anything for us, I am not comparing Hugo and Edixon to Mario and Ivan C, because the latter's work in France and Italy have been very distinguished, but being a nice guy and giving us a good image doesn't raise our futbol prestige. It might hurt our chances of having players in top teams, but itd oesn't win world cups or better yet, classify us to a big tournie (something el tino and higuita did and something that yepes and IRC have and will not do)

I grew up cheering for Colombia and watching us be 4th in the world at one point, when I was like 7 or 8 I remember people placing us as favorites, when was the last time we were able to feel that passion again? I know the WC in the U.S. turned out to be afailure and quite possibly because of the dicipline issues that guys like Tino and Rincon had, but regardless they put us on the map.

If you google Faustino Asprilla, you have wallpapers dedicated to him from Newcastle fans and if you google IRC you get a quarter of that.

The point is you can be a gentleman or a complete criminal, but when it comes to winning and scoring, who really cares?

Although, I agree...I do like the good guy image that Yepes has given us, but I miss cheering for my national team with confidence and admiration.

This is from the BBC's Top 10 moments in Newcastle's History...

    3 - Colombian Class

Newcastle United 3 Barcelona FC 2

Tie: Champions League Group C Week 1
    Date: Wednesday 17 September 1997
    Venue: St James' Park

There are moments in football that will live with you forever.

Ask any Geordie where they were when Asprilla scored his hat trick against European giants Barcelona, and they will most likely tell you that they were at St James' Park, or they were watching it on the telly.

    Asprilla completes his hat trick
On a breezy night on Tyneside when Rivaldo and Figo came to town, it was Newcastle's own foreign import who stole the show.

A Newcastle attack suffering from the loss of Shearer, injured, and Ferdinand, sold, relied on Asprilla to deliver the goods. And he did not disappoint.

Kenny Dalglish's wily tactics saw him pinpoint Spanish fullback Barjuan Sergi as the weak link in Barcelona's armour, and from the outset, Northern Irish winger Kieth Gillespie proceeded to cause him trouble, running at him with pace.

Such was Gillespie's performance against one of Spain's most respected defenders, that reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid followed soon after the match.

And it was easy to see why. After an Asprilla penalty was converted to put the Magpie's 1-0 up, the Colombian formed a lethal partnership with the young winger that combined Gillespie's pace with the Colombian's cunning.

Twice Gillespie skipped past a faltering Sergi, and twice Gillespie's pinpoint accurate crosses were met by the head of Asprilla. Newcastle were 3-0 up. Barcelona were shell shocked, and the Toon were in dreamland.

Barcelona got their act together, but despite pulling 2 goals back, the damage was already done.

Faustino Asprilla had made his mark on the Champions League and his destruction of the Catalan side remains one of the most enduring memories in Magpie history

He helped destory Barcelona!!! How can you get on the guy and put Yepes and IRC over him?

Where is Anthony de Avila on this TOP 10 list??
Antony William de Ávila Charry (born December 21, 1963 in Santa Marta, Colombia) is a former Colombian soccer striker. Nicknamed El Pitufo ("The Smurf") or El Pipa, he was known as much for his short height of 160 cm (5 ft 3 in) as for his goal-scoring prowess.

De Ávila spent his career with three clubs: América de Cali in his native Colombia, the MetroStars of Major League Soccer, and Barcelona SC of Ecuador. His 25 goals for América in 1990 led Colombia. De Ávila scored 29 goals during his career in Copa Libertadores making him the 6th highest scoring player in the history of the tournament. De Ávila also scored 13 (in 53 appearances) for the Colombia national team. He played for his country in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.

De Ávila's MLS career spanned a season and a half, as he joined the Metros midway through the 1996 season as a replacement for colossal disappointment Rubén Darío Hernández. With the club playing on AstroTurf for parts of the season, El Pitufo was surprisingly adept at what was called "ping-pong soccer".[1] He scored 15 goals and added 11 assists in his time in the league, plus another two goals and an assist in the playoffs.

w/e like him all u want but he did more bad than good for colombians if u ask me. How many Colombians went to newcastle after him? or Europe?? Angel didnt go to Villa because of Asprilla he went because he was a god at River PLate.

No one at Villa ever credited Angel as one of their most important players, ever. Angel was disliked by a good amount of Villa fans, I remember reading the forums and reading the criticism. I just cited the most important paper in England crediting Asprilla as the top 5th moment in Newcastle's entire history. Newcastle fans will never forget Asprilla accomplishments, will Villa fans 10 years later still talk about Angel? Chances are more Red Bull fans will do that....

    So f'ing what?
This thread is about "Los 10 Mejores de Colombia" not about who the nicest or the most honest players..

Who cares if they had problems with the law?
I am not going to marry any of them and i am not anyone to pass judgement on other people!

Whether you like it or not, El Tino Asprilla is the most successful Colombian Soccer player in Europe so far.. the records don't lie.. just ask any Parma fan..

Maradona is a coke snorting, tax-evading drug addict.. so what?
He is still one the best players to play soccer *ever*

This is about playing soccer buddy, not about morality or good character..
maybe you should start your own "Los 10 jugadores mas decentes que van a la Iglesia los Domingos" thread!
Let's see how interesting it is..
