8 Mbps? What the fvck, who even offers that shit anymore, that is like the internet speed I had 20 years ago. Well I guess Verizon does offer shitty speeds, but who the F buys it?
You city people are so cute - best I can get for under $100 (with a discount) is 4Mbs (and that's just one way). If the chart said NY state, it might be higher, but I thought all NYC was covered by enough providers to lower the prices since the entire area is wired.

On every list like this, the top countries or cities are always places that Republicans warn us that we should not be like. If I didn't know better, I would think that Republicans don't want Americans to be happy.
Note the difference of Singapore on this 2 lists, #2 as ranked by expats, falls to 32 on this "work-life" balance rank. Than again one ranks countries and the other cities. So Helsinki is top on ranks as a city, but Finland is not top 10 as a country (by expats), so people may love Helsinki, but other things around Finland make the country fall in the rankings. Canada is the opposite, top 3 as a country by expats, no city in the top 10, so the country is viewed in as more favorable than say Toronto. Weird for Singapore as they are a city-state.
Thanks to this era of social media and acces to information, Americans understands more and more that there shouldn't be any reason for the richest nation in the history of this planet to not almost hit #1 on all metrics... Too much power at the top who BS the rest with their "save the world" speeches but are just as part of the problem.* *Thinking of Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes calling the Hollywood class on their BS
The Hollywood class does its best to get the U.S. to emulate Europe. That's why they are the Republicans' enemy.
If that was the case, they'd be more socialist than Democrats. And their philanthropy is part of the problem. Good books have been wrote on the matter and the best way to be like Europe would be for them to be taxed as such.
CBS goes to the Palisades Center Mall and asks regular 'Mericans "who gets the most of the wealth pie?" They didn't come close. WEALTH INEQUALITY: The richest 1% controls more wealth now than at any time in more than 50 years. But what does wealth inequality really look like?@TonyDokoupil turned America’s economic pie into a real one and asked people a simple question: Who gets what? pic.twitter.com/scGPKcHbie— CBS Mornings (@CBSMornings) January 31, 2020
Decent read about the state of the US economy. I’m convinced that Milton Friedman’s biggest success wasn’t political, but cultural. .@NickKristof and @WuDunn in @lithub: "Everybody knows about the cost of food stamps for the poor, but few people are aware that the median taxpayer is also subsidizing the corporate executives whose elegant French dinner is tax deductible." https://t.co/6GWqX6iBaI— Roosevelt Forward (@RooseveltFwd) February 3, 2020

Please, just stop with these. I'm asking as a friend. They couldn't possibly make you look any more desperate.
Title of the thread is Looking at income disparity/inequality...definitely a factor on happiness, no? But interestingly enough, Americans are happier than the French and Spanish who are way more left wing countries. Worth the debate as it's not automatic that a more socialist country makes their citizens happy
Perhaps explain in the post that that is the reason why you're hanging this particular tweet in here. Otherwise it looks like the sort if tweet dump that is frowned upon in this forum. Or to someone unfamiliar with your posting history, it could look like a troll attempt.
ok, will do. That's why I posted it. France is way more socialist than Canada and most nation but the French are very unhappy. I have family living there and the amount of taxes they pay is insane
They're unhappy for a reason and it ain't about paying taxes so much as cuts to programs and other things Macron has proposed/is doing.
They've been pissed since joining the Euro Union. My uncle said that people's wealth got hit when they lost their currency for the Euro...everything got more expansive and young people are looking to leave.
Can they be culturally "unhappy"? I mean, there's something to be said about attitude towards life to be a cultural thing..
Have you ever met the French? They cannot exist if they are not unhappy. It is what makes them happiest. They created one of the greatest words in history: ennui
The dudes that rioted last year started with an increase on the gasoline tax, then other people joined in. This problem is that France spends way too much in retirement, more than other developed country, the French people need to pay more into the system (higher taxes) or there have to be cuts to the benefits. The French do not want to do any of those, so they do what the French do, they strike.
