Ok I know we have won 5 in a row and after MLS Cup it will be 7 in a row. What is the longest winning streak in United history? What is the longest winning streak in MLS history? I don't want undefeated (since that includes ties), just wins baby, the full 3 points.
10 in a row in '99. three of them shootout wins. (add one more to make it 11 in a row if you count a Concacaf Cup win) 9 in a row in '98, one of them a shootout. (12 if you add in the Concacaf Cup) I think LA has the longest win MLS win streak, 12 in a row to start the season in '96(?)
I was curious because United is putting together a bit of a streak, and I didn't remember any winning streaks being all that long. By the way United WILL win the next 2 and add a 4th Cup to a trophy case. As a matter of fact after we spanked the monkies from up north I told Petke and Gross they will get a ring this year.
I stand corrected, although I hate those multiseason type streaks, especially as LA got swept by Dallas out of the playoffs in '97 in the middle of their "streak". Oddly enough, LA only had one shootout win in that 15 game stretch as far as I can tell. Interesting.
No correction needed - you got the team right. That LA team was a really good regular season team, especially the '98 team. Coached by Octavio Zambrano - they scored a ton of goals. They were the ones that had that ridiculous 8-1 win in Dallas on a Thursday night ESPN game. Of course, as the Galaxy were prone to do, they flopped when it counted most and lost to Chicago in the playoffs.
