Maybe this is more an off-season topic of discussion but what the hey. Has there been much discussion of the long term plans of the NPSL? Remain an amateur league with mostly college players? Develop into a rival of the USL with semi-pro and pro teams? Merge with the USL?

Well rumor has it that the NPSL will create a pro league, probably starting in the Northeast by 2010.

But considering the communication and organization problems the league and several of its teams had this year getting it together, most likely thats not going to happen.

I think they will be content if the NPSL can stay with consistent, strong clubs in the current amatuer version.
