Now that's more like it! Stevie's the missing element - a finisher who can take advantage of Suarez's good work and creativity. And that first goal was vintage stuff. Moyes helped us out with his team selection, but hey, a win's a win - especially in a derby.

Really the entire team played great - and an active downing and Carroll made life for Suarez so much easier - which of course also helped gerrard.

Gerrard, freed of the responsibility of covering for Adam's defensive deficiencies, has his best game of the year. Coincidence?

And to all of the Henderson haters -- he's the one who sprung Luis into space to set up Stevie's first two goals... He started slowly, but really came on after the first 20...

Carroll's hold-up play was his best for us, yet... And he won most balls that came his way on offense and defense...

Nice bounce back by Enrique... Very strong defensively, and more direct going forward... Was playing a nice ball into the channells instead of dribbling himself into trouble...

That was a terrible game, nobody showed up with any conviction, Carroll is a donkey and Henderson was all over the place and useless, Gerrard couldn't get a shot on target, don't get me started on Enrique and his hoofing, poor Suarez looked a shadow of his former self.

    Sorry force of habit. ;)

What a relief we beat that lot. Happy days.

Can we play in a derby every week?

We need this level of heart, effort and teamwork every weekend.

The man can't even tie his own shoelaces, how are we supposed to trust him to complete passes on the pitch?

Wow, Stevie played a brilliant match. Not too bad for being preggers!

What can I say? Kenny got the tactics right and Moyes bottled his. Carroll played the decoy well, freeing up Suarez who in turn fed Stevie. This is our season should've turned out. Special praise for Kelly, who seemed to be in the right spot at the right time though he needs to work on his finishing! Lil Jay did well when we wasn't passing to the 21st row.

Let's keep this momentum rolling onto the Stoke match.

We played the Toffees for a laugh
Gerrard scored one, Gerrard scored two, Gerrard scored three...

And Kelly didn't just show up in front of goal. For those who question the tactical acumen of the King, he had Kelly get forward and Henderson tuck in, so we were 4-4-2 in defense and 3-5-2 in attack with Wee Jay hanging back. It took advantage of the space Baines surrenders when he gets forward and it exposed that Kelly had the beating of Baines all day. It put big demands on a pair of twenty year olds in Henderson and Kelly but they played up to it.

And for those slagging Big Andy much of the good things we did went through him leading the line very well.
