After the bad brawl he had on the pitch and in the dressing-rooms with AC Milan player Cosmin Contra, during yesterday's TIM Trophy (in which FC Internazionale also participated), Juventus seem even more interested in accepting AS Roma offers for Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids. The umpteenth brawl that saw him as the protagonist in fact suggested that the Juventus management want to sell him to avoid tranquillity difficulties with his teammates. According to rumours Marcello Lippi has already chosen a possible substitute for Davids: Parma's French midfielder Sabri Lamouchi, who would cost around €7 million. After the doping suspension Davids has frequently exhibited this type of uncontrolled behaviour: yesterday was only a friendly, but he was still given a red card. During the championship Lippi wants to count on a player who does not have these type of problems that risk lengthy suspensions.

Roma president Franco Sensi says he is no longer interested in signing Edgar Davids for this season, but says the club may move for him next summer.

Coach Fabio Capello has made it clear that he desperately wants the Dutchman on board, but Sensi said: "I don't want Davids (this summer). You shouldn't forget that he only has another year on his contract with Juventus."

Besides Roma, Arsenal were very interested in the Dutchman and might be willing to pick him up.

Hopefully we can offload him and with that money put it towards Nesta :D

I don't want him to leave, especially not to Roma, if anything, since it is likely he will be sold, I hope he goes to the Gunners, it would be great to see him battle MAN u and Liverpoo.

Ya, arse may still end up needing someone to replace Vierra, especially once they finish 4th this year, Wenger resigns, and the exodus begins! *smirk*

Juventus is more likely to handle this issue successfully than Inter dealing with the Ronaldo's "about face"... class ain't water

bottom line: Davids accepts another destination or Roma overpays; third option, the dutchman remains in Lippi's doghuse until he behaves like a professional on and off the pitch

    Davids given Juve backing

Marcello Lippi has defended midfielder Edgar Davids over the red card he received against Milan last week.

The Dutchman was dismissed after he brawled with Rossoneri star Cosmin Contra, which led to speculation that Davids would be sold after his latest discipline problem.

However, boss Lippi has moved to hose down the situation by backing his midfield dynamo.

"The Milan player has publicly apologised for his actions," said Lippi. "This demonstrates who was more responsible for the incident."

Davids’ future at the Delle Alpi has been in doubt all summer after Roma expressed a desire to sign the star but failed to meet Juve’s asking price.

Latest reports suggest that should the former Ajax man leave Turin then it would only be for a foreign destination.

Meanwhile, Lippi says he is content with his squad’s pre-season training despite finishing last in the three team tournament last week behind Inter and Milan.

"We played against teams that had started the season before us and therefore were in better shape than us," he added.

"At this time we are just verifying tactics. The important aspect is to find some decent form when we play games that really matter."

Juve would be stupid to sell the Pitbull to Roma, he would most definetly bite them in the ass.

Remember when Milan sold Davids to Juve, look at all the damage he wrecks on that team.

In a bag with a cat.
They can offload Davids to Blackburn if they want. I daresay Souness will keep him in line :).
