Nice 1-2 win for Vaduz. Moreno Costanzo with another goal. Next round is against Midtjylland on 14/21 July with Vaduz getting the 2nd leg at home. That will be a much more difficult draw.
This was always going to be a difficult draw for Vaduz. Maybe they can get a draw in the 2nd leg for some UEFA coefficient points out of the tie.
With the season starting after next week, I have a feeling that they'll be pushing to play a more pressing game. Midtjylland will be playing not to get hurt and will probably be treating the game like a friendly. I was saddened at how bad of a beating they took, but I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Nevertheless, I think they'll win at home, but come up well short. More wins means a higher ranking means a somewhat softer opponent for next year. Let's hope anyway. Hopp Vaduz!
FC Vaduz held Midtjylland to a 2-2 draw to end their European adventure. Time to get ready for the Swiss Super League.
I wish they hadn't drawn Midtjylland. They would've gotten Videoton next, and I think they could've challenged in that tie. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Gotta win the Liechtenstein Cup if they want to get back there next year.
FC Vaduz roster to start the season 1 - G - Peter JEHLE 2 - D - Marvin PFRUNDER 3 - D - Simone GRIPPO 5 - D - Matthias STROHMAIER 7 - F - Albion AVDIJAJ 8 - M - Diego CICCONE 10 - F - Gonzalo ZARATE 11 - M - Franz BURGMEIER (Captain) 12 - M - Ramon CECCHINI 13 - M - Pascal SCHURPF 15 - G - Christian BALDINGER 16 - F - Moreno COSTANZO 17 - M - Marco MATHYS 20 - M - Nicolas HASLER 21 - D - Axel BORGMANN 22 - G - Benjamin SIEGRIST 24 - M - Maurice BRUNNER 25 - M - Stjepan KUKURUZOVIC 27 - M - Philipp MUNTWILER 29 - D - Mario BUHLER 30 - F - Yones FELFEL 33 - D - Maxi GOPPEL 36 - F - Ali MESSAOUD 37 - M - Dejan JANJATOVIC Newest Additions Maxi Goppel - Signed from FC Balzers - A young player from Liechtenstein with a lot of promise. I think this move may have been fueled by the National Team to get him more exposure to top level soccer to prepare him to play for Liechtenstein at the highest level. Marco Mathys - Signed from St. Gallen - A solid veteran addition from a rival team. He should see plenty of time in midfield with Muntwiler and Kukuruzovic. Gonzalo Zarate - Signed on a free from Thun - He really struggled last season, and has been struggling. Vaduz is really hoping that he can find his form and add the scoring punch that they lost when Sadiku went back to FC Zurich. If he can find his shooting boots and start putting the ball into the back of the net, he could carry this team. Benjamin Siegrist - Signed from Aston Villa - Former Basel product isn't going to unseat Jehle, but he could make a name for himself to try to take that job. I'm curious to see how much time he gets and what he does with it. Marvin Pfrunder - Signed from FC Koniz (Promotion League) - Curious to see about him. I know he was a youth product of GCZ, and he's only 22, but he's more of an outside back, whereas most of last year Contini was playing a 3-6-1/3-4-3. Maybe he's going to a flat back four, or having Pfrunder push up into midfield? I don't know. Maurice Brunner - Signed from Biel/Bienne - Former FC Zurich player who got a few games there, then spent last year at a dying club. He's 25, and there's plenty of upside for him, and plenty of chances to compete for a midfield spot. Matthias Strohmaier - Signed from Bayern Munich II - I don't know much about him except he played yesterday at CB in flat back four alongside Simone Grippo. I do know that this is a permanent move, and not a loan. Returning Ramon Cecchini returns after being on loan at Winterthur. I don't think we'll see much of him this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't loaned out again. Moreno Costanzo signs permanently from Young Boys. YB loaned him out, and Vaduz decided to sign him permanently. I think this is a solid move. Going out Florian Stahel, Oliver Klaus, and Nick von Niederhausern did not have their contracts renewed and they are now without a club. Manuel Sutter also did not have his contract renewed. He signed with Winterthur. Returning from loan back to their original teams are Levent Gulen (GCZ), Mauro Caballero (Porto B), Armando Sadiku (FCZ), Joel Untersee (Juventus), and Thomas Fekete (Young Boys). Robin Kamber was sent out on loan for the season to Winterthur. Also going out on loan is Daniel Kaufmann. He's heading to Chiasso.

A story about some random Vaduz supporter from the United States. http://www.watson.ch/Sport/Fussball...-um-im-Internet-den-FC-Vaduz-spielen-zu-sehen
It's funny. The author reached out to me after I made a joke about watching illegal streams of Vaduz matches. A couple of back and forth conversations later, and here we are. Vaduz reached out to me and are sending me a Care package of Vaduz swag. Maybe they'll include the jersey I've been trying to buy for 2 years, but can't because they require you to wire money to buy it and it's too expensive for me.
Great pictures. Max is about the same size as my 11 week old grandson, who I was holding earlier this morning.
He'll be 12 weeks on Monday. He's getting pretty big! He sits there between my legs and we both watch the game on the laptop. He seems to like it.

I'm predicting 5 points. I think they'll get a win at home against Macedonia and manage to sneak two draws elsewhere. Hopp Liechtenstein!!
A tough start with an 8-0 defeat by Spain. That was a thrashing, but the first half was great. I think Spain got chewed out at halftime for dogging it in that first half and were told to turn it up. Liechtenstein also got tired late in the match because that's where you really saw the gulf in quality. They'll recover from this. 8-0 looks really bad, but it certainly wasn't a just result.
