Awesome. I always hope Eddie has a good game (and he usually does), but this is a great opportunity for Simek to take his game up a level. Show your stuff, Frankie!

    Is Simek the new Convey?

Let's hope he can shoot better than Bob-inho! :p

    Lets see...
Convey joins MLS and is hyped massively and has his own group of diehard supporters
Simek goes abroad and works his way up through the youth systems but very few people in the USA have ever seen him play

    Convey is a midfielder
    Simek is a defender

I'm not having a go at you, but in what way would you possibly liken Convey to Simek.

Georges Santos, Simek's partner in central defense, scored on a header off of a corner from Lee Cook.

...and just a couple of minutes later, a slip by Santos leads to a goal.

    Preston 1-1 QPR

(pvan, the answer is "today" -- it was just announced yesterday that he was near signing and I think the deal got completed this morning -- it's a one month loan)

Simek is too short to be the new Convey.

Uh, there was a smiley face no? Wasn't meant so serious (analogy)..

Just happy another guy making it happen....I'd like to see Simek move away from Arsenal ASAP...just don't see it happening there for him

Seeing as how Convey is listed at 5'8" - I think I've now heard it all :)

Well, trial by fire seems to be the logic here. When's the last time a guy started the same day he arrived? Good thing they wear uniforms or he'd be completely lost out there!

Well Simek did miss the last Arsenal reserve's game so it is possible he has been practicing with QPR for a little bit now, kind of like a tryout before the deal was made.

Don't know what you are missing. Soccernet has him at 6 feet tall.
I was surprised to see that though, as I had always heard he was short.

    PNE 1-1 QPR
    HALF TIME

Simek barely got a head on the ball off of a set piece in the last few minutes of the half, but couldn't get enough on it and caused no danger to the PNE keeper.

He obviously needs to be 5'11" in order to have a positive impact on a game :D

Just having fun... good to know he's at least had some involvment.
Wish this game was on FSW rather than the replay of New England -Chicago.

    I wish I was taller
    I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl from the hood so I could call her...

For those who were lucky enough to miss it, there has been an ongoing debate about whether Simek is tall enough to be an EPL level CD. Thus the wise guy from me. please note: it is not a Guus Hiddink quote.

Not knowing what has been said before, why not just see if the guy can cut it there. It is where Arsenal has been playing him in the reserves, and it is now where QPR is playing him. Surely two teams in England can't be totally insane, let alone the EPL champs. Heck, people say Sol Campbell is too slow, but that isn't keeping him from being one of the best defenders in the world.

sorry if I'm throwing this thread off or bringing up bad memories.

Gee, I might be able to get my wife out to a game if they played with their kits off.

Two penalties for Preston in quick succession. Neither of them seem to be at Simek's feet, Healy's saved the first time, Cresswell puts away the second one.

    2-1 PNE.
