Stars are one-time per game evaluation of your player's performance.

All this gobbledygook tells how your team performed in the match. Basically it tells how your team compares overall to your opponent in the listed area. Generally, as new as your team is, I wouldn't worry too much about this. But all things considered, not too shabby.

That was the bump, albeit not much of one. What was it to before the game?

This simply means your midfielders have better stamina than your opponent's mids. And generally a better midfield overall.

Correct. And you would have no confusion with a solid either.

My matchup was away at my biggest rival, the #2 last season and current #1 (after a week I know). When the schedules came out I pegged this game to be the toughest of the year. So to get it ready for it I sold my best winger who was also my captain and watched as my #2 and #3 defenders got 4 week injuries in my friendly. To which I responded by buying an 30 yo passable defender. Great huh????

Well I won! 3-2 with Klaus picking up 2. That gives him 7 in the first two league games. :)

    0-1 Allan Conway (2)
    1-1 Björn Nilsson (4)
    1-2 Klaus Formigão (43)
    1-3 Klaus Formigão (70)
    2-3 Alexander Troch (78)

It was a really even match. I had 45% possession in the first half and 54% possession in the second. Really could have gone either way. I think I have the Puke Green Socks to thank.

A very frustrating 2-1 loss as Gray Gunners put up a new team high NSI of 97. Both my opponents goals come on counterattack events, and he's not even using counterattack as a strategy. Take those away and I win 1-0. What's a guy got to do to win in D4!? My extra-terrestrial midfield is nice to see though. Next week should be the best chance yet to get my first D4 win.

I only won 2-3, which doesn't satisfy me when looking at the ratings: my midfield was way better (66 and 74% possession), my attack was better than his defence and my defence was better than his attack...

Oh well, at least I won, so there's nothing to complain about. Except for that 32 yo midfielder who now has a four week injury, that is :(

Hattrick is down at the moment, but I seem to remember sweating out a 3-2 victory at home. I had jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but then TiMeWaR pulled one back to make it interesting for the last 15 minutes or so.

A winger went down for 5 weeks, which really puts the hurt on. I have 4 wingers, and 2 are injured. One of them is 36 years old, so I don't see him ever healing. Fortunately I have some petty cash laying around to help me buy someone..........

Next 2 matches on the road. Neither opponent appears weak enough to steal points from, but stranger things have happened in this game.

Well, I had to wait two hours to find out, but I pulled off a 1-1 draw. I was hoping I could pull off a win, but oh well. I really lucked out to get a draw because I made a couple of tactical blunders (suffering confusion, playing a winger without enough PM TM). A win would've kept me on top of the series.

Match ID is 29185913, in case you want to take a look.

7-nil win for me where overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 15841 at Kilted Arsenal Sharks Grove today.

Damn bandwagon fans. At least I know 1125 of those people are in the Tartan Army.

Not a bad way top start things off.
    Goals
    1-0 Jerry Griggs (3)
    2-0 Jens Wiebusch (14)
    3-0 Jack Buntain (22)
    4-0 Boris Hays (69)
    5-0 Jens Wiebusch (81)
    6-0 Jerry Griggs (81)
    7-0 Lindsey Ochoa (84)
    cards
    Jack Buntain (17)

    Had 89% and 95% control.

I almost feel sorry for the guy since he is fairly knew(Zeek, he took over the Killerzz). Oh wait, no I don't.

The strange thing is I am the only team that seems to be able to score more than 4 goals. 14-2 gd works for me.

Starting off, underestimation of the opposition made RiverHawks players perform way below their normal capacity.

    ***

So I lose 4-0 against an evenly matched opponent....My confidence was at wonderful after a week 1 win and 2 cup wins. I guess thats what leads to the overconfidence factor?

It kills me because I was on the road in this match and the team I lost to finished ahead of me last season. I happened to win wk1 and he lost and came in as the 7th place team whereas I was in 1st place. What do you successful managers do to guard against overconfidence? I have 2 psychologists...

Being in first or second, with wonderful confidence, against the 7th or 8th place team is the main risk.

I generally don't do anything different, because I want high confidence to maximize my attack ratings.

Despite achieving my goal (best wing attack matched against weakest opponent defense, win possession), we lost to the D3 demotee by a 3 - 1 score. In retrospect, I might have had more success with either (or both) of two changes: 1) Play my central defender normal instead of offensive -- I was against a defense-heavy CA squad, and I probably could have won possession at around 54% (instead of 58%) and denied my opponent the counterattack (two goals that way). And/or 2) Play a 3-4-3 -- I knew where the weak point was in the defense, and a 3-4-3 would have boosted my attack ratings on that side a bit more (I think) and given me a better chance at punching through.

The biggest problem, though, was that my best winger, who can swing 5.5* in top form, is not in good form right now and only put up 4*. My wing attack rating on that side of the field (my strong side) was down a full level from solid (vl) to passable (vl).

I'm looking forward to seeing a better match analysis so I can get a better idea of whether this was a WTF or just a result that I should have expected.

thats crazy that this could happen in the second week of the season...oh well. For future reference any tricks to avoid this? I assume of course if it really was a 1 v 7 or 8 that you'd still be able to roll over the lesser opponent...

Won 6-2 away for my first win of the season. Even though I out-starred him 26-11.5, it was still satisfying considering I lost two straight heartbreakers in the Cup and my first league game.

And the analysis says... that the battle of offense vs. defense was fairly even around, except for their central attack being about equal to my central defense. Oops. Bet that's how I gave up three goals. :(

Using 20/20 hindsight, if I've got four healthy defenders next time, I should play an unbalanced 4-4-2. I'm not sure that strategy would have worked out for this one, because I only had three healthy defenders (the third a last-minute acquisition to close an injury hole).

I PICed vs the Division IV demotee and lost 4-0 as I had a wretched (very high) midfield vs his inadequate (high) midfield...

but I'm not too upset since all the other scores from my league were 4-0, 4-0, and 5-0. I play the new #1 this week but I am expecting to win since it's at home and I think I have a better overall team than him. The only area he's better in is midfield, but it's not by much.

    Thanks Craig

One question though, are the ratings on the link updated with the games you posted in here? If so, then mine is wrong I think, cause I pulled a 122 this week, which is a new high for me. It could just be that I am not reading it right. Thanks.

I already added you to my database, so give me a holler if you don't show up for week 2. Most likely, you hadn't played yet for week 1 and didn't have a midweek cup match, so I didn't have any match results for you for the ratings. You should have appeared in the list of ratings for league round 2.
