It's pictures like this that make my football fan friends judge soccer the way they do. They're still funny pictures though!!!

I'm surprised no one wanted the missing picture from that group.

(Hint: It's probably the only one that could be interpreted as "straight" and it's from someone who didn't see any playing time during the tournament.)

(Hint #2: He did see time in 1998!)

    It's Kasey Keller!!

    What do I win??

OK, back to the point of this thread. If you get a chance to write CW Nevius, and commend him for his article, it would not be such a bad thing.

I wrote him and got a great response. To wit:

    From: "cw nevius" <cwnevius@sfchronicle.com>
    Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2002 10:19:21 -0700

First, thanks. Second, excellent points. I completely agree with the idea
that a well played athletic contest is compelling, regardless of the sport.
I was converted to soccer by the World Cup, especially the Brazilians, and
to hockey by the Olympics, especially the old Russian Red Army team. Thanks
for the note. I will pass it on to our editors so they know folks are
    reading and responding. CWN

(Note: I'm not going to show what I wrote, so your emails won't be too similar! :D )

I would be thinking that CW should get a chance to see the Quakes just to see what the hoopla is about, maybe knock some sense into Dickey or Radnich (who has done bits about the game, but not enough to change his mind) that it's a good game after all. That and bringing someone who doesn't like the game or is new to it.

Nap, I hate to say it, but the setting of the pose is still a bit on the swishy side.

    Ro-gaine!

It looks straight based on the clothes, but the pose looks straight (pun intended) out of the International Male catalog. Or someone told him to look like an unknown forward named Jeff Stryker (pun again intended).

Someone on the CyberRays side referred to Landon's pic as cute, but she thought everything else, except for Keller and DMB, looked very silly.

It's a good thing the USA did well because had they tanked 1998 style, all the jokes or worse would have been attributed to this.

Someone have a scan of the Landon cover?

    Cheers!
