Local media here in England are reporting this as a done deal, any news in the US on this?, WBA just promoted to EPL and have sgined Kanu with the object of uniting these 2 up front.

It would be a bit complicated to buy LD's rights (considering Bayer Leverkeusen still "own" him), and I'm sure we would've heard some rumblings around here if anything was in the works with WBA. Not saying they're not trying to get him, but with all the parties involved in negotiations for LD, i'm sure we would've heard about a "done deal".

Since Leverkusen owns his rights, couldn't they sell him without MLS' consent? MLS may have his rights through the season, but as far as I know after the season his future is (was?) not clear.

It is weird that the rumour mill has not picked up on this already. Then again, if WBA came to Bayer and MLS today and said "7 million pounds is in the mail if Donovan is on the next flight over," I'd be surprised if they said no.

I've been looking for evidence on some WBA message boards, but the only discussion of LD I could find was a few fans wishing they might sign him.

They way I understood the MLS-Bayer arrangement was that both parties would be intimitely involved in any negotiations with a third party wishing to secure his services.

Asumming this is going to happen:

How does WBA in the coming year compare to LCFC, Wolves or Portsmouth at the beginning of last season?

Or more simply, would it have been better for Landon to have gone to Portsmouth last year, instead of WBA this year? (AGAIN, ASSUMING THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN)

I think they're more commonly refered to as "West Brom" or "WBA"

My brother just heard about that. I bet he read it on the internet. But he told me there was a deal or something like that, and Landon is going back. Well that is what I understood.

So far, nothing from the usual suspects:

The Guardian, Soccer America, Soccer 365, USSoccerUK, World Soccer,

And you would expect to see it here first:

Hmm, all I found is a major French TV network's Bundesliga transfer report listing Donovan as an arrival at Leverkusen from the Earthquakes, which is probably based on the technicality deal from earlier.

Not just that, but don't you just love thread titles for rumors that are stated as fact? (Title edited to reflect the situation...)
