LAFC is close to announcing their academy director within the next 2 - 3 months. I've decided to start a thread. So far Hugo Perez is linked to LAFC. http://www.soccerwire.com/blog-post...-under-threat-at-the-u-17-world-cup-in-chile/
That would be a great signing for LAFC if they can pull it off. I wonder if the academy will be in place before the GM/Coach and staff are hired?
http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com...-expansion-lafc-picks-black-and-gold-unveils/ John Thorrington, LAFC's newly hired executive vice president of soccer operations, also expects to make an announcement soon unveiling the club's academy plans. The franchise will ramp up its technical preparations shortly after the first shovels hit the ground.
MEET OUR COACH Joey Cascio, a Southern California native, began his coaching career seven years ago with Canyon Football Club. He led his teams to several Coast Soccer League titles and a Cal South State championship. Joey most recently coached at local youth clubs FC Man United and FC Golden State Academy. Joey is a motivated student of the global game and has developed a strong reputation among players, parents, and his peers as a committed and talented developer of youth talent. Joey also serves as a Staff Member of 3four3, a coaching program based in Southern California focused on possession-based soccer development.
Troopers, Actions speak louder than words. Mr. Thorrington is sending a clear message that he means business. Well done.

Cal State L.A. and the team would like to work out a long-term deal as the academy expands to include four other age-group teams over the next two years. Thorrington, noting the school's location near the city center and its two on-campus high schools, is optimistic about the negotiations. http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-lafc-mls-20160308-story.html
When asked about possible plans for LAFC to expand into girls soccer, the club’s executive vice president of soccer operations, John Thorrington, told The Goat Parade recently a girls program is an “important piece of our future plans, and we are therefore exploring all options to see what makes best sense for LAFC.” If LAFC did establish a girls academy, they would not be the first MLS team. http://www.thestoppagetime.com/on-lafc-a-womens-team-for-lafc-and-the-oc-blues/
I wonder if they plan on adding ages a level at a time? I think it's great what they are doing with the start of the academy.
LAFC U12's results from yesterdays game vs Carson Galaxy. U12 @ussoccer_acad Results 1st Match LAFC 3-3 LAG2nd Match LAFC 4-2 LAGQuality performance from both squads.— Joey Cascio (@Cascio_FG) September 3, 2016
Hey every little victory counts in my book, when the real Super Classico starts it is going to be very interesting considering that we are now in Downtown LA and The Galaxy are in Carson. In any case our youth beat there youth so to me that's a victory in it's self.
Why are some people calling it DTLA? Exposition park is not DTLA its Exposition Park and proper LA (City of LA). This is LAFC's first win vs Carson even if its just at the youth level.
