true...but at the end of the day, our inability to win the other games costed us...the lack of goals killed it...we played great but had some bad luck in front of the net where it counts...we should never rely on a coin toss

Would ecuador have been in to the next stage if colombia would have made that penalty and won the game?

LA TRI VA CON TODO SU EQUIPO A MÁLAGA
    | Fecha : 2009-02-02 10:15:39 |

I don't like it. It's a no-win situation. If we beat them, we get no credit because they're a U-21 team. If we lose, then big headlines about Ecuador losing to a U-21 team. There's no upside. England's U-21 has guys like Daniel Sturridge from Man City, they can't be all that bad. I'm assuming we will win but with Ecuador you never know sometimes. Before qualifying to the 2nd round of the World Cup, they played a friendly against some German semi-pro team and won by only 4-3 with a last minute goal. Our guys don't really get motivated for these games.

its only a win situation if vizuete take a b team which he is not. What a dumbass. He should take players that don't usually start. what's the purpose of playing the same players that have been together for years against a u-21? the purpose is for ecua players to be seen by euro clubs, here is the 11, I would start.

    Banguera

Juan Carlos Paredes, Jairo campos, Renan Calle, Valencia

David quiroz, Fernando hidalgo, pedro Quinonez, Montero

    Pablo Palacios, Rojas

did anyone see JC paredes for Cuenca last night? What a fantastic footballer..is he only 21?

That's exactly it. You are right ... Ecuador lost to Beckham ... not to the team. His individuality is what got England through in that match, and that's a fact.

the only thing that match proved is that England playing at their worst can still beat ecuador. Someone earlier mentioned carlos Tenorio? tenorio had the chance of a lifetime and he screwed it up. That second delay in his shot that hit the crossbar sentenced his career.

So my U21 National Side are to take on your Ecuador senior National side, this Tuesday in Malaga. Quite a unique and rare match we have here.
England U21 Manager Stuart Pearce, has announced the 22 man squad that will face Ecuador, and here is the link to the line up: http://www.thefa.com/England/U21s/NewsAndFeatures/Postings/U21vEcuador_squad+named.htm
Of the line up that has been announced, U21 stars to look out for are Steven Taylor, Micah Richards, Nedum Onuoha, Lee Cattermole, Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Fraizer Campbell, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, and Daniel Welbeck. If I were to be honest though, I could only see Taylor, Richards, Lennon, and Milner, as being players that are good enough to get opportunities in the Ecuador senior National side, this of course being if they were Ecuadorian. Combine the greater player quality that the Ecuador squad holds, with the fact that the Ecuadorians have more experience, are greater at team working etc, and I can only see one winner in this match, and that is of course Ecuador. My scoreline prediction for this Spain based game, is Ecuador to win either 1-0, or 2-0.
